But it IS KR's CHOICE of factory ................................... others may have been no different, of course.

Seems to be the norm out there. Used by another producer everybody is wetting their knickers over.

To keep the cab metal attached to the metal frame however on the front these should be flush riveted unfortunately and shouldn't really be visible.

Yes they should be flush, although there are photos of them being clearly visible so I'm not too bothered about them.

For the uninitiated and those perhaps not doing adequate research this is what the Bulleid-Firth-Brown wheels on Bullied's leader actually looked like... (Picture taken and provided to me by the late John Click)

Not as apparently will be fitted to the model...

Note: I like many have one on order and paid for, it's just a shame adequate research or freely offered assistance has not been taken up.

Strange the EFE CC1 Boosters don't look much like BFB wheels either. DSCF37182.JPG.312ad2a46eb8b4075e2038401cd98854.JPG

If the Heljan peaks had removable noses like the newer Bachmann 37s and 40s,

No thanks. That is why I won't buy the Bachmann versions. I can always see the join on the green versions, Not to bad with FYE which masks it, but they are not my era.

I was disappointed to see the Leaders at Warley still displaying the hopelessly wrong wheels. Has that issue been addressed? Or am I going to have to get the plasticard out?

I was going to ask them on the day but they were fielding other questions.

Yes, it now apparently has BFB wheels.

Refering to the top picture with the red blinds, i purchased a s/h model some time ago

all over green where some one had fitted these at one end,  not good when running in reverse

yet the photo shows the red blinds with the loco facing forward unless this is a top and tail.

As the next movement will back the way it came, I expect the driver has changed the blind before changing ends.

Maybe - but 13ft 1" was not an exceptional height being no different from various existing SR classes and in fact at maximum height it was lower than the maximum height of an M7.    BTW

Yes, but but they didn't have a 13' high end butting up to a 12'  coach making them look tall.

I saw the newsletter too, unfortunately they have mixed up the Bulleid Pacifics "chain driven valve gear" with the Leader having been chain driven between axles with the sleeve valves being operated by an Oscillating mechanical gear.
    "detail, detail, detail..."

Funny that, all the pictures I have seen, show a chain drive from the middle axle to the valve gear.

If they have done this to allow bogie movement would sort of suggest the pivot point could have been moved backwards to aid the body being lower... I'm just guessing as they haven't said a word.

Getting the bogies to swing with the tapered body line and go around anything like trainset curves. mine struggles with 3'  radius. The bogie pivot does have to be further back but not enough to allow the body swing out too far and clout the lineside furniture.

I am interested in the features of this new batch. Has the daft lighting been corrected? In other words, are there only four white lights at the front, with the bottom two of the white lights on the original batch now red? Do the lights at the front, which should be red,  not illuminate when running forwards but do illuminate when in reverse? Can the rear lights be switched off and has the cab light been dimmed somewhat? In other respects, it’s a good model.

On analogue control. Four white lights at the front when running forward and two red tender lights. Two red lower front lights when running in reverse. No cab light on mine. I'll be disconnecting the white lights as I normally do anyway. I don't like white searchlights when they should be a yellow glow.

  11. Received mine from Rails in original livery, but I rather like the BR green now I have seen it. Well it looks like a GT3, nice paint finish and grill details, lovely runner with nice response to the controller, better than both my Accurascale models.
