  1. One method I have used is to lay the DAS with a small amount of dilute PVA on the card and when all is dry flood the surface of the DAS with the solvent, this will soak through and weld the components without producing the trapped fumes. Wally
  2. Naval refuelling was and still is at Thankes Point on the opposite side of the Hamoaze just outside Torpoint. It takes the shape of commercial tankers deliver And R F A (Royal Fleet Auxillary) tankers out. Naval vessels are replenished at sea and not alongside the dock to minimise pollution risks. Wally

  4. The box is still in its " box" as the windows are not weatherproof yet.
  5. The main problem is that you need to alter the curvature of the complete turnout and this means altering the switch lengths and overall turnout length as well. I suggest you take pause and download Templot and print off several combinations of angles and lengths then try placing the prints on the landscape to give the best answer. Wally
  6. I believe that Hobby Holidays are responsible for marketing and distribution of the Ambis 7mm range, perhaps a look at their web site may help. Wally
  7. Don't forget there was both a turntable and triangle at North Road. There is photographic evidence of the disruption caused when a driver took a loco into Laira roundhouse only to discover that the table was set for the other entrance! It is surprising how many other locos can be rendered unavailable for service as a result of these simple failings. Wally
  8. Where's the bit of damp sponge in your iron stand? You can't singe your fingers properly with a dirty bit!
  9. Phil, I've told this story before but it can stand a retelling - we were at Laira one afternoon when a rumour came through the grape vine that E S was at North Road. A mad scramble to Old Laira Rd and a bus ride later we were above Mutley Tunnel in time to see the tender disappearing into it, heading towards Laira! The things you do at twelve years of age. Wally
  10. Anyone booking a stay in the vans should also book a tour of the Snozzle Brewery, just down the line behind St Austell station. An educational afternoon followed by free H S D or Tribute what better way to spend a holiday! Wally
  11. I see you are using "safety flux" is this water soluble and non acidic? Washing off with hot water and a non soapy cleaner should suffice just make sure you rinse an dry well before continuing. If you wish to expand your tool kit further and expect to do more of this work I suggest you buy one of the small grit blasters from Eileen's or other similar suppliers. Wally
  12. Steve, don't forget if you are still in the area on Saturday / Sunday the Plymouth show is on as well before the treck home. Wally
  13. It's just Down the road from Hemerdon summit signal box (or at least the site of).
  14. Is that drive through? Must be quick service though. Wally
  15. But that was their last day of being English! Wally
  16. Spot the G W R enthusiasts steadfastly looking the other way - keep up the good work chaps! Wally
  17. Haven't looked in here for a few days, but isn't that the tractor that Fords did in the B R experimental blue livery? Wally
  18. Rob, It's a fairly well known fact here in the South West that Don Breckon mainly based his paintings on other people's photos He is probably sitting at home reading your thread and gaining Inspiration. Wally
  19. That doesn't smell, it's not a diesel, it's a brake van! Wally
  20. The version you have is for ferrous metals (gun barrels etc) what you want is the "Blue for Brass". Wally
