Another van, this is the Ragstone Models bullion van. Not very good instructions provided on the one regarding the braking system. So I improvised on them.
Did you download the latest instructions from the Ragstone website? They appear to have a pretty good explanation of how the brake gear goes together.

Any recent pics please? I get a lot of my inspiration from this - or at least I did. rather a lot of sitting on the sofa recently!
Geoff posts to Western Thunder these days. To quote him: "I'm only over here these days, t'other place got too big and the loss of some of my content due to the meltdown was the last straw."

I hope that it's just your photos but the boiler looks all wrong to my ageing eyes. The bottom of the boiler should be parallel with the footplate and level with the top of the splashers. The boiler is coned from the back of the smokebox to the front of the firebox.

That being the case what are these Dapol conflat ones? Are they meant to be GWR taper, but without any taper?
Not the clearest image of an H6 but you get the idea. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. The Dapol ones are close enough.

It's a shame they're so small. The OP wants 7mm irons!

It does appear that the far end lowered aluminium strip rests on the rails. If you have short, I suggest starting here with the diagnosis!

Not sure I'm up to speed on the competition?! I will be demo-ing again hoepfully next year if they will have me. It was great fun!
And your building and painting advice and explanations were invaluable so thank you again from me. (and thanks for the hut - it has a new home earmarked.)

I am thinking of purchasing a Rising Star Southern A12 Jubilee 0-4-2 tender loco kit could you give me your thoughts on the accuracy and quality of their kits I believe this kit is marketed by Slaters now?
Roger Scanlon built one of these. Richard Lambert (Dikitriki) posted a photo of it on his Heyside thread on Western Thunder. Roger posts on WT.

Will that be a set of badgers or a badgers' sett?

I needed some bells for some Swansea Harbour Trust (SHT) locos and got them from Andy Beaton (Ragstone Models). They are the ones supplied with the Agenoria kits of SHT Pecketts etc.. I can't find them on his parts list but he will supply them.

1369 was shedded at Weymouth in 1947 so it's not surprising that it had Great Western on the tanks!

This is for an 8750 class loco.

MJT? Sorry, my fault, brain fog, I thought I'd mentioned I was looking for 7mm items.
You did. It's in the thread title!

Hi Mike
I bought some of these in a variety of sizes - they fit one of the collets on my Proxxon bench drill and also run true which is a possible problem with using the drill-in-tube method.

So he had a Virgin Atlantic pilot accompany him on a London - Paris working and then he accompanied the pilot on a round trip to New York. I'm not sure who got the best bargain there as the 373 had to be driven all the way so would probably have been a bit more interesting than sitting there with an autopilot - and no system changes or neutral sections to deal over the Atlantic so more workload to see in action.
To suggest that there's nothing interesting going on just because the autopilot is engaged displays a complete lack of knowledge and understanding of the job. At 600mph, things are changing constantly and rapidly.

This might be true of some of the bigger breweries but I've got a picture of a chimney which is actually a lot shorter than the adjacent tower!
Fair enough!

I can't help feeling that the chimney ought to be much taller than the adjacent building - else the upper floors of the building will be swamped in smoke!

Thats not the loco im doing!
Managed to find the number 4552 buried in the text above. From photographs, the position of the tank vent on this class seems to correlate well with the type of safety valve cover. Locos with the ‘older’, taller and slimmer cover (like your model) have the vent in the forward position. 4552 in BR days had the later, squatter cover and the aft vent position.

The tank vents need to be moved back alongside the firebox but the base is integral to the cast tank tops with no access to sand it off. I might have to live with them in the wrong place.
Or get a different photo?

Actually, Dave, the method I described was told to me by Steph.
It doesn’t seem to be on his website any more, which is curious, I was sure that it was. I think he called it “the difficult way” but it does allow for a gearbox, which “the easy way” does not.
aha, the link still works: http://euram-online.co.uk/tips/splitaxle/splitaxle3.htm
Hi Simon
I thought that was the link I posted!
