This is really sad news. I have been communicating with Jack since the early days of MTI. Often by phone but more recently by email. Helped me a lot with coming up with track plans for a number of my layouts. Jack I will miss you.☹️
I am looking for 2 40' boxcars(road name unimportant) around £10 each hopefully with Kadee's fitted. Only thing is i need yhem posted on Monday for an exhibition next weekend.
Thanks.
I am building an inglenook layout using a Peco code 75 RH and LH point but my question is will i have to use plastic rail joiner anywhere or can i just fit metal ones?. I do intend to fit point motors and micro switches.

Picked up a copy today and enjoying a read. I like the idea of a layout for under £200 but i could not see an overall photo of the track plan and a shot of yhe finished layout. Also it would be an idea maybe to explain how to operate the layout especially if a beginner

In issue 113 of MTI Graham Weller reminisced about a 4'x1' he built using Fleischman's 3 way plus a RH and LH point. I always liked the track plan so i hoping to use it for my proposed new layout. Only difference is that i will be using peco code 100 insulated 3 way point. And two settract points. (If you want to see a track plan then go to wynmann.info and you will find it unding the Shunting Layouts section. By this time the layout had been owned by Dave Howells.)
I hope the 3 way point is reliable and i can still fit everything unto a 4' X 1' board. I intend to order the 3 way tonight.
Hi
Does anyone have any experience using a Peco SL-99 3 way point please? Are they reliable and any special wiring requires ect. I will be using if for am American HO layout. In the past I have had no issues with US locos and insulated points.
I have been given a couple of 40' boxcars without any wheelsets. Anywhere in the UK that sells them. Would metal ones be best or do they interact with Kadee couplers?
I have over the years used Settrack points on a number of layouts with few problems as i like the ruggedness of them. In fact my latest US switching layout will have points that i hsve had for 20 years.
Just wondering if anyone else is using them today?

I had forgotten about this layout but as it has just reappeared as i am about to enter tbe world of DCC.I must check my wood store to see if i have enough materials to build something similar.
Looking forward to see it again Jack.
Again guys thanks for the advice. The select is old so its firmware may need updating butbit it only costs £15 I may get it. I do know thati t has limited functions but i dont require sound etc and would only have a maximum of 3 locos on the layout at any one time.
Interesting views folks. I also have the opportunity to get a Bachmann EZ controller. I will see if i can borrow them both to try them out. Bavhmann seems to get better reviews
I know it's a very old topic but I have just found the above track plan and was wondering if someone could help me with a wiring diagram for it as I will be using Peco electofrog points etc.
Thanks Johna
