  1. judging by this photo and James's photo it seems that 60006 and 60014 must have swapped doors at some point during their careers http://www.garyschofields-railwaypics.fotopic.net/p63228691.html most likely 014 was broken into hence the smashed glass and EWS acquired a new door from fire damaged 60006 as a direct replacement then boarded up 014's old door and re-fitted it to stored 006
  2. 60074 back on the Murco's, going through Newport at around 8.20 tonight B) 66030 working a rake of EWS beastie TEA's was held on the middle relief line whilst 60074 ovetook it on platform 2 towards cardiff
  3. A couple of nights ago i saw 60013 on the Murco's come bombing through Bridgend heading towards Margam shortly followed by 60074 coming in the opposite direction dead-in-tow behind a 66 and a small rake of MEA wagons missed a shot of 60013 completely as is was running early and took me by suprise but i managed to get footage of 60074 being hauled away from Margam see link B)
  4. DB Schenker could possibly raise money by selling off the class 60's or maybe even just a few to a rolling stock comany like angel trains for example, then use the money to lease back the ones they require and overhaul/re-engine them. Just an idea, not sure if it would work or not though Although it seems like a possible option whilst the majority of the class are still in one piece albeit just a bit internally worn out.
  5. WOW Grimely only just noticed this layout topic and woah, im amazed at the size of this project and the progress you have already made, such a massive area to detail and a hard prototype to follow. Brilliant work so far the main structure looks superb, your woodwork skills are top notch buddy B) you must be dreading forking out for all those Tower lights! Your Weathered 60's really do the depot justice looking forward to more progress shots
  6. great work on 403 jon B) you've inspired me to give my Caerphilly Castle a run now may i ask what year you have modelled it in? as i beleive it ran for a while without its Plaque before it was officially stored i also recall it attending an open day at Toton without it. sadly it had long been withdrawn by the time I got into photographing locomotives and remember it mostly for sitting at the back of Margam Knuckle yard with smashed windows and peeling paintwork
  7. why do DBS only keep them on a certain circuit for a week or so and then transfer them back to Toton so frequently? is it something to do with spreading the engine hours evenly per machine whilst carrying out balanced maintenance on the stopped examples or something?
  8. isn't FGW pacer livery really old northern underneath though great job on the pacer james B) some quality masking skills u got i like the little Manchester pic destination blind you've added B) nice touch of detail
  9. cheers jo that's great news , hopefully it'll soon be back in action B) must get around to buying the Hornby one sometime before they're all gone! is 60074 due back at Toton ? last i heard it was still the Margam supershunter lol. 60039 has now taken over as the 'mean machine' in south wales
  10. how simple will 60040's broken traction motor be to replace? will they just find a replacement from one of the knackered 60's? or is it repairable?
  11. saw 60039 clagging towards Newport today at around 14:50pm with a rake of empty BAA's in tow B) caught it by total accident as i passed by on a Taunton bound 158 66109 passed by 15 minutes later on the Murco's Also of interest was 67018 Keith Heller stabled solo at Barton Hill TMD, unusually 67003 nor the mk2 paington set were no where to be seen.
  12. do u mean James Hilton's 37411 'caerphilly castle'? if so it is a Bachmann collectors club Limited editon model and comes pre-painted B)
  13. how about some more urban people to add to the scale scenes range, such as some chav's?
  14. looks great pugsley B) have you chosen what your going to number it yet mate?
  15. awsome shunter james B) looks very similar to the ones you see around C.F Booths scrapyard. What colour are you painting it mate?
  16. caught a quick glimpse today of 60039 working Murco's through Cardiff at around 6.00ish, must have been running early
  17. wasn't one of the class 60 Ratcliffe coal diagrams acquired from Fastline after they ceased operations?
  18. lol true i guess did u use superglue to fix them on?
  19. great work here Jo B) must have been very fiddly attaching those nameplates in N
  20. does anybody know the rough time that the Murco's pass through Newport S Wales?
  21. that didn't even last a year the Mainline 60078 came out in 2005 and is still available now from Hornby
  22. have Hornby stopped production of 60040? hattons and all the major retailers seem to have run dry
  23. hope 059 isn't too badly damaged i also noted that 007 has lost one of its beastie stickers since its been at Crewe, not sure if both of them are gone though would be nice if Bachmann did some Murco TEA's to go with my 60074 B) dont fancy Hornby's cheapy ones
