  1. Many thanks. I realised after I'd posted the image that I hadn't checked the number and I had a feeling it was wrong. Edit : 2 posts about this as I've just discovered you can't multiquote when the posts are on different pages. David

  8. Back in those halcyon pre OFSTED days I once had an arranged visit from one of "Her Majesty's Inspectors of Schools" who was gathering evidence about school management roles for a report he was writing. When he arrived I was teaching, he walked in to the laboratory (I taught biology), picked up a worksheet I'd prepared some time previously using a Banda and sniffed it. When I asked why he said it was a habit when he was observing lessons. If he could smell the alcohol the sheet had only just been printed off, probably as a response to his presence in the school. He said it was often symptomatic of a poorly organised teacher who prepared things at the last minute. If there was no smell the sheet had been prepared earlier and was obviously a normal part of the activity for the lesson he was observing. He was most insistent it wasn't just to get a quick alcohol fix! David
  9. Many thanks to both of you. I was indeed near the Skiff Inn. I usually avoid the Metro Centre and anywhere nearby nowadays. Thanks for the dates, I've altered the caption by deleting the reference to Dunston. David

  23. A visit to south west Scotland for today's photos. The first photo is of the Caledonian Railway station at Annan, on the line from Kirtlebridge which went across the Solway viaduct which joined the North British line to Silloth and also the M&C at Brayton. Many years ago, when I was a member of a modelling group, the Blyth 61172 Association, we built a model named Challoch Junction, inventing a station at the location. It went to a number of exhibitions in the north east.
