  1. Sorry, that's all the information I have on it, taken from Dad's notes. David
  2. I only visited Edge Hill once, it was not the nicest place in those days. It was a very cold and dull day. I was quite glad to get back to Manchester in the late afternoon. David
  3. It's been a long time since we last visited Edge Hill, I think these are the last three photos I have. There are also two of Yorton, north of Shrewsbury on the line to Crewe. They were taken on the way back from a holiday looking at Welsh narrow gauge railways in 1982. 5. I think there may be a few but I haven't sorted that batch out yet as I still have a lot to do. David
  6. I tried to visit the Gauge 0 guild forum for the first time today, having been a member for a long time. It won't let me, despite following the instructions on the site about using it for the first time. I wonder what I am doing wrong - or is it just the software? David
  7. I knew I'd got something wrong today. The excuse is that I'm a biologist not a geographer. David
  8. I took it at 10.58 a.m. I suspect it may have been running late unless the sleepers were simply being worked as ecs at the head of the train. I noted the time for almost all my Swiss photos. David

  10. Some more of Dad's Paris photos from April 1983. He didn't have good weather. I have taken the captions from his notes, if you can see railway items in all of them you are doing well, because I honestly cannot. 11. Thanks Andy. I'm now wondering how often I've looked at the photos over the years and never noticed the cabs. David

  18. More Scottish photos today, this time along the Oban line. Most of the photos were taken on a trip organised by the Whitley Bay Horticultural Society to Oban in October 1986. The stock for the train was the "raspberry ripple" 1st class Motorail set. The first photo was taken from the train on a WBHS trip to Fort William and shows the curve from Crianlarich Upper station to the Oban line. 19. Mainly Fluelen today together with one from Arth Goldau, obviously we are still in Switzerland. The railway is visible in the first photo, if you look carefully. It is at the right hand end, just above the water. The structure part way up the cliff on the left is the road. The railway at Fluelen has changed a lot since these photos were taken, as have many stations in Switzerland since the late 80s. 20. It was sold when it started to rust - like almost all Metros they rusted very quickly, especially the front wings. I think they kept it for about two years from new. David
  21. I wasn't there that day and haven't been to Headingley station since the mid 60s but I think that the low part of the platform was in front of the building, the part of the platform platform in use was behind where Dad took the photo. The platform on the other track is clearly in use. David

  24. It was Mum's Metro - dad rarely drove at that time because he had a heart condition then. I would have been driving it that day as I often took them out on Saturdays, sometimes in their car. David
