  1. Evening all Here are a couple of pictures of the new concrete pad extension. It's been a pain to do but I think I prefer it to a card version as the texture helps the look and feel. More to follow soon. Nik
  2. Hi All I have managed to do a bit more to the layout including some ballasting and an extension to the concrete pad where the shed sits (photos to follow) . I have also found the roof for the shed but it needs a bit more repair work but overall it's slowly starting to take place. Also a nice item arrived in the shape of a ECoS system which has already wowed me it terms of what it can do. Please feel free to comment on what you see. Regards Nik
  3. Good Evening all Here is the latest update. I have finished spraying all the lines so I thought I would look to build the concrete pas for one of the sheds. The pad is made out of herculite and once set I sprayed it with weathered concrete. I'm still not brave enough or sure how to fill the centres so ideas are welcome Nik
  4. Good Evening Well finally got a bit more modelling done including the following:- 1. Spraying the track on one side of the layout 2. Installing the second control panel for the Large depot which is being built by Gravy Train and is based on Wigan Springs Branch Depot Nik
  5. Good Evening All Well here is the latest addition there will be 3 panels eventually. The panel is mdf with 4 layers of paint the final coat being plasticote. Then I lined the panel out with the interior to be laid out and then the wiring can commence. I have pondered about how to wire the points up and in the end I have gone for the tried and tested method of stud and probe. Thank again Nik
  6. Good Evening Not much progress at the moment but I have fitted the boards in place for the station which are on the upper level so just need to decide on a track plan. Cheers Nik
  7. Hi I got them off a guy who I dealt through ebay and he was also selling these so bought the lot. I think the crane is from DC kits Nik
  8. Well Summer is here the olympics have nearly finished so I thought in this heat lets do some more modelling, doh! But anyway I started so I finished. With much frustration and fiddling i have managed to get the freight yard and loco stabling point lit up with the yard lights from express models and r3sprays all good lights. So here we are a couple of piccis showing progress (also thought I would put a couple of pictures of some of the locos in the MPD sidings Nik
  9. Hi all Work is slow at the moment but here are a few photos of the freight yard and the diesel fuelling point also network rail depot Enjoy Nik
  10. Thanks David, the salmons are cambrian kits with cranes added Nik
  11. Hi This is the triangle board to house the engine shed quite a big one but allows the full shed to be fitted Nik
  12. Good Evening all Well progress has been made with the track on the top section laid and point motors added (although not wired in yet). The layout has a freight yard and a loco stabling point as well as a network rail depot. Finally the photos show the triangle which leads onto the helix and will allow me to turn the diesel locos without a turntable or hand of god! The engine shed is yet to be laid out as I have just have the triangle fitted to house the shed (photo to follow) Enjoy Nik
  13. So a busy week on the layout I have rebuilt the helix in its new home and also with help from Dave he has mounted and fitted ID backscenes to the layout. Also track layout has been completed as a rough layout plan witht he main theme a freight yard and of course the depot based on Wigan. In order to finish the depot a large triangle is being built for the layout by White Rose Models Further updates tomorrow Nik
  14. So all boards cleaned up and a new cork surface added. Also new boards arrived to fill the gap where the helix was positioned Nik
  15. Well demolition is completed and the helix has been dismantled the boards just need sorting now ready for the next layout:
  16. Good Evening All Well the layout is no more. I have had one of those moments in the past 6 weeks which has led me to scrap the layout and to start again. I have removed all the track and had the boards amended by Dave at White Rose Models so I will add some pictures and also give you some progress updates this week including a run down off what the new layout will be about including a replica to scale proffessionally built depot of Wigan Springs Branch. Nik Still will be loads of locos though!
  17. Hi Dave You asked early on in the thread about the thoughts about producing a sound version is this something you are doing, was there a good enough response? (Sorry if I missed this in the thread) Cheers Nik
  18. Hi Dave Definate yes from me on the sound it will finish the loco off Nik

  20. Hi All Finally got round to doing a bit more modelling on the layout. I have stripped the lower base boards for relaying of storage sidings and some loco depots for my large fleet. The first one is the DRs depot and finally got this one laid yesterday so thought I would add some pictures for you all to see. Plenty of detailling left to do but I think you start to get the idea. Nik
  21. Hi Thanks Not all sound thankfully or the kids in the room next door would never get any sleep Nik
  22. You can I am currently at about 280 mainly diesel but I do have about 25 steam (in total to many!) Nik
  23. Hi Everyone Please find some more pictures of the layout, I'm currently working on point motors for the freight yard and wiring a few signals for show on the top of the layout. On a bigger update I have lifted all the track on the lower level to relay and make a second freight yard and a large engine depot complex (toton style), I am also putting extra droppers in the top freight yard to be able to use my sound locos then I need to ballast etc. Finally I might get round to looking at the freightliner depot and the 3 upper level station whic I may do as a part network rail owned and part West Coast Railway owned Thanks for looking Nik
  24. Please find some further photos of the layout. I have started some scenary work to bring the layout to life. Also added are some signals and staion lights. The first picture shows the landscape that hides the spiral. Nik
