  1. Just got back from weekly shop at Sainsburys. Got some sultanas which appeared in new packaging with the remark "produce of China". Previously sultanas always came from Turkey. Is there anything that China does not produce?

  3. Just got an e:mail from HobbyShop at Faversham - got a DB-TEE VT11.5 diesel railcar set to collect tomorrow - no big deal you might say - but it is - it's a G-Scale version!!

  4. Been a difficult day today. On Tuesday my Mum (who is 95 and has Alzheimers) fell and broke her hip. The excellent medical team at William Harvey Hospital, Ashford got it stitched up but found her bones are cracking up and prognosis is not good. After long talk today with very sympathetic doctor at the hospital agreed to DNR. Maybe most difficult deciscion I'll have to make but Mum's had a good innings. Sure it's what she would want me to do.

I'd just like to echo what's already been said and wish you well.

What an awful decision to have to make although in the end probably the right one. I've been in a similar position in the past so you have my sympathy and I wish you and any family well for the future.

  5. Finally told TV Licencing that Mum has moved to her care home....just waiting to be bugged by TV Licencing as to why I have not licenced the TV that I have not got.....

  6. Turned up for lunch at the Hythe Imperial Hotel to find a helicopter parked on the front lawn and many kitesurfer guy, some wearing Virgin fleeces etc. milling around. Later Sir RB appeared and left in a van for Dymchurch hoping to break his son's record for kitesurfing across the Channel

  7. Mum's 95th birthday today and she gets a present from ERNIE - £100 on her Premium Bonds. Pity is, she has Alzheimers, and is not aware of what's going on. Hey ho, that's life - at least can share some of her birthday cake when visiting her in her care home this afternoon.

Half of you says save and pay the mortgage to make old age easier, andthe other half says "who knows what's around the next corner?" Congrats and commiserations. Where's the Comet Coaches catalogue....?

  8. Just back from my monthly visit to the HobbyShop at Faversham - pleasant drive cross-country - very little traffic about - perfect!! Returned with a few bits and pieces - checking and testing this afternoon. No Heljan WMDs yet so something to look forward to next month. Topped the car up with diesel - coupla pence per litre cheaper in Faversham than Folkestone. Town car parking also cheaper....

  9. My brother took his 3-year old grandson to B&H Models in Lincoln to get some Airfix plane kits....and came out with a Hornby digital freight set. Spoke to him last night and he's already ordered track packs from Hattons to fill the Track Mat in the set. Today he's out buying wood for the baseboard. Let's hope the Grandson gets hooked.

On the other hand, I've been buying and building plane kits again after a 30 year hiatus. Great fun - no bl**dy pickups, decoders, etc.
