  1. This is the Modern World - Jam
  2. Make one of these: From one of these:
  3. I'll Fly for You - Spandau Ballet
  4. In a similar vein, there was a guy who made such a song and dance about taking scrap timber home from his place of work for the fire. Made sure he had a ticket signed by the boss and made sure the gate house keeper inspected it every time. It took several weeks for people to twig that he used a brand new wheelbarrow from the stores each time and none ever came back.
  5. I remember being shocked to see chips in Towyn (other spellings are available) on sale for 7p whereas they were 5 1/2p at home in 1974.
  6. I saw this, and thought of you. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Triang-Minix-00-Gauge-Black-Morris-1100-/170964878534?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item27ce4d04c6
  7. The CA is privately owned then, as the owner has replaced his number plates with modern white / yellow background types, even tho' he didn't need to. Quite a fad at the time, if you wanted to give the impression your ride was newer that it actually was.
  8. I don't want to get into an argument on what is definitely a side issue in this topic, but I feel that at the time, there was a disconnect between how BL saw their market for the RR, and the kind of punters who, initially, actually bought them. It took fully 10 years imho for their vision to become reality, and due credit to them too; they invented a new class of vehicle, later dubbed SUV, which was copied the world over.
  9. I feel I must disagree with your last suggestion. The Mk I Range Rover (none more than 4 years old in BCB era) was overwhelmingly the choice of the gentleman farmer and country set. The Chelsea Tractor phenomenon was unheard of at this time.
  10. I Love to Love - Tina Charles
  11. Keep the Home-Fires Burning - Ivor Novello
  12. The Whole of the Moon - Waterboys
  13. summer time blues - eddie cochran
  14. I think the FG is fine as it is. Just because there is a proper way of doing things doesn't mean it got (or gets) done that way every time. For second hand gear on a short journey by a gyppo 3rd division haulier in an (almost) pre H&SWA world, corners would be cut. Like taking an urgently-needed HW point machine in the back of a Viva HA van on the M6, in which I was the 3rd man. Not big and not clever....
  15. Back at 'work' with nothing to do. Contract bid in Nov has been lost, the grim reaper approacheth.

    1. BoD

      BoD

Sorry to hear that, best of luck whatever comes.

  16. 'The Law and their order', an Austin Allegro in panda car guise pictured in a dodgy bit of sarf Lahndan.
  17. The BL 1100 / 1300 were made at Longbridge, which is even closer. They had been superseded by the Allegro in '73, (some old stock wasn't registered until '74) but were the chariot of choice for the hardworking family guy on a tight budget. I don't know how much traffic you will need on BCB, but by their utter mundane-ness they would really suit the melancholy aura I think you are trying to create. Minix ones available on EBay. Rovers and the booted variants of the Mini, less likely, they tended to haunt Sutton Coldfield or Penn, rather than BC. Singers, still many pre-Arrow series about (my mates mum had one). Imps were still in production, till '76. Edited, having checked car production dates: 28xx
  18. Young Hearts Run Free - Candi Staton (spell?) edit: only 1 t
