  1. Dramatic sunrise over the Vale of Am this morning. Tried to interest baby Thomas in it but he was more interested in the ornaments on the window sill.
  2. Birmingham Division but Derby registered XCH 711M through to 719M some of the first vehicles I ever drove.
  3. A. J. Smith (B'ham) Ltd. J. B. Holden Ltd. Got the style right!
  4. Its not that old, inter-war probably, how about an electro-platers? Fred Spoons EPNS no, enough Goons already, something utilitarian, unsullied by 21st c marketing idiocy, a quick Google round the Jewellery Quarter gives, A. J. Smith (B'ham) Ltd. "If you're in the trade, you know us, if you're not in the trade, you don't need to" is probably their approach to advertizing.... You could put a leaky bulk tank of something smelly and toxic in the yard at the back.

I was just thinking about this the other night and could only recall the FUNEM-SVFM easy bits!

  6. <Teach-Your-Gran mode = ON> Don't forget all the laid-brick hard surfacing was put down when the canals were resurrected in the last 20 years or so. In the BCB timeframe it was mud and weeds. <Teach-Your-Gran mode = OFF>
  7. Can't belive I need a 50 lever frame for Stourhampton North.

  8. I too am building a super-detailed EM2. I want to convert to 10 wheel pick up, but I can't get the plastic wheels out of the non-powered bogie for fear of breaking it. Has anyone got any tips?
  9. This is what I do for a living, Stubby. Its now the New Roads & Street Works Act. BT are the only utility to fully automate the inquiry process, hence access to the above. Most of the others want paying or at least retain details of the projects and correspondence so I can't use them to do foreigners. Before anyone asks me for a map for their project, I'm afraid the answer is 'No'.
  10. These sometimes come out with a much clearer base map, unfortunately this area has not been converted yet. Included anyway fwiw.
  11. Accessing some large scale mapping at work. Watch this space.

    EBay madness

An un-original frankenstein model (made from spare parts, mismatched body and roof), in a tatty CKD box, worth as much as a week in Ibiza ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VINTAGE-TRI-ANG-RAILWAY-No-388-CKD-KIT-BUILT-BR-CLASS-77-EM2-PANDORA-VN-MIB-/300676062992?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item4601b09f10
  13. Fog on the top of the Lickeys this morning on my way to work in Halesowen from Borsetshire. Decidedly Autumnal.
  14. I think'Morris Minor' is a statement of class. Minor means younger, smaller or less significant. If you had a Morris Minor you knew your place, you knew you wern't good enough for a proper Morris.

There are performance upgrades too, so you could look as though you knew your place, but with the capacity to beat your betters with a big stick!

Do you mean the MGB engine shoe-horned under the bonnet type conversion?

  15. Have a browse in Maplin then buy the same things cheaper on eBay.
  16. No work today so I spent the day reading up on thw Woodhead line on the web. I have never felt so angry about a closure as this one.

  17. I think you can have a Western on the clay. The service was often 'lying by' in Worcester while I was waiting for my train to Brum around 07:25 am in 1976.
  18. Black Country insult: Yow d'ay know the diffrunce 'tween a sponner an a screwdroiver - yow puts nails in wi' bowth! With acknowledgement to Fred Peach.
  19. Surprised no-one has mentioned 'Hansons' beer. Made by Wolverhampton and Dudley Breweries, and having the same tombstone shaped logo and typeface as Bonks's but only available in the BC proper iirc.
  20. Can I add my belated but wholehearted support to this project. This was the backdrop to my youth, you have already evoked many great memories. Rather than offering a wish-list of features to be included (although sorely tempted), I'll wait to be asked, I was there, I hope my memory won't fail me when called upon. 21. 3 emails from anonymous. Interestingly there is no entry about J for Justice on BBC, ITV, Reuters or Wiki, surely its newsworthy if several forums were hacked as well as this one.
