  1. Brian I seen it at the Cardiff show last year he's done a great job, the scaffolding looks the biz. Is he still exhibiting it?
  2. Hi Chris You won't regret moving up to 7mm, sounds like an interesting project. There's plenty of us who miss the shop me included. I will have to go back to mail order now.
  3. This is my new thread since ditching Dock Street It might be a bit slow going as I need to get a few more pieces together before the real work can start. So Why the change ? http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/unsure.png Well Ranelagh bridge was the original plan when I moved up to O gauge, The layout was to be built in my Dads museum but it will now be stored at home and built in a modular fashion as the last one. When I modelled in OO I always got more enjoyment out of modelling real places. I built a model of Dawlish which got into our local paper once Praise indeed http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/dirol_mini.gif A lot of people are faced with the same problems of space and the Depot is a popular choice of layout and I'm not knocking that. Ranelagh bridge gives me a prototypical place to have big engines in a relatively small area. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/yahoo_mini.gif I did a lot of research and have been gathering as many photos as I can so if any one has any please share. This might look like a jumble of track but its highly scientific. The layout of the track taken from a signalling diagram. I have used a bit of modellers licence and have omited a track. the running lines are up empty stock and down main. The Track will be C & L flexi again with a mixture of peco points and C & L and peco double slips. As I've set it out here there will be no point work on the board joints and So I know where all the track is going before I build the boards. Well that's it for now best start saving. There's also rumours that a County is on the way just don't tell the misses http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/secret.gif This is it now no going back. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/public/style_emoticons/#EMO_DIR#/rolleyes.gif If any one has any info on Ranelagh bridge then please share. I have been on the old RMweb and seen the OO gauge version that a chap from the Cardiff club had built and I've seen it at a show. So it will be good to see a 7mm version
  4. has hijacked some one elses computer so I can see rmweb on a big screen instead of a piddly ipod.

  5. This is stunning . An air braked 9F will look a treat on them hoppers. Keep posting pics
  6. Cracking just read start to finish. I read the to many depot thread aswell what a load of tosh Can't beat the site of a 50 leaning in to the curve
  7. 1 Holiday haunts reminds me of dawlish which I think was the plan 2 dainton bank more south Devon delights 3 Pete watermans Leamington spa. Not in any order but the chance to see Castles galore.
  8. Go and look around your layout and count the cliches. I know I'm guilty of them all. But to me a cliche becomes one when it's over done or just not real ( Dr who ) Sometimes on layouts at shows it keeps people interested what's wrong with that. How many weddings are there every day or funerals or RTA. So shy not on a layout if it's modeled well. I'm building an O gauge steam shed. It will have a retaining wall behind it it will have access to the sector plate through a tunnel mouth why because I'm fighting for space and these are the most prototypical way of disguising it. I can't think of a better way. It won't be filled with locos but it is somewhere to show case them better than on a mantle peice. I will probably have a broken fence with a few kids peering through, all cliches but hopefully modeled well enough to be believable. Not over done Like I always here there's a prototype for everything and if the prototype is done well then it shouldn't fall into the cliche
  9. Brilliant work Ron. This Is one of the threads I check regularly hoping for an update I can't wait to see all the bits coming together.
  10. Ken Do you think you could get some pics of her once painted?
  11. Theres a cracking photo on rail photo prints of 5904 in 1963 at shrewsbury with the 8 wheeled tender. The last loco to work with it. I think they were withdrawn together. This is my prototype for a future 7mm model.
  12. Good to see the comparison between the two bogies. I am definitely going to have MMP ones on my Heljan 47 now. Might see if I can get some replacement buffers aswell. Do you know when the additional diagonal peice was added to the steps to stop the drivers slipping as mine will be circa 1965 and I need to no whether to omit it or not. I've looked for photos of my loco D1663 but can't get any close up of the bogie.
  13. She's coming on nicely, looking forward to seeing her completed. Are you to paint it ken or is she off some where else.
  14. Nice layout, as a fellow resident of south Wales your pics take me back to my spotting at Newport in the early 90s plenty of 37s . In the late 90s there was a 58 knocking about in the Newport area for a while, always seemed to be on an engineers train. Used to see a Dutch 31 alot in the early 90s. I will have to have a look through my old pics. A railfreight distribution class 47 in the then revised livery was always a favourite one of mine I've got a cracking picture of on ex works on Godfrey road. Oh 50031 hood on the Cardiff portsmouths, the memories are flooding back.
  15. Hi jazz I'm looking forward to seeing how this one comes on, I managed to pick up a 90% built version of this loco kit but as I don't have the skills to finish it I decided to let it go. I'm hoping to see how good the new seven models (Scorpio models) duke is when it comes out in march. I've always had a soft spot for this loco so I'm looking forward to having one in the future.
  16. FANTASTIC just goes to show what can be achived in a relitavley small space. I will have to track a copy of model rail down.
