  1. Midland class M coming off shed crossing into the yard. This loco is over 60 years old. I scratch built it to show a work colleague that loco building was not particularly difficult. We built one each in tandem to EM gauge. mine was painted and lined by my friend Larry Goddard, his was still in its raw state when he died a few years ago Spot of shunting.
  2. Grr !! Foiled again
  3. My friend Mr Dalek will be paying you a visit.
  4. OMG, those pannier things are breeding like rabbits. Exterminate, Exterminate Derek

  8. If only colour photography could have been available. Where was Mr Kodak when we needed him?
  9. Yes, it is very nice indeed Chris. Now, the problem. You will need another eight to form your workman’s train. Only joking!! When you brought it to show us, I thought how cleanly you had built it.
  10. Yes, this loco is of that age. Bought from the late lamented C&G models at the Newcastle Show. Nice kit to build if my memory serves me correctly. Good luck with the build. Derek
  11. Hello Mark Here is my build from a Little Engines Kit. I think it is an A7, Iam not very knowledgeable about locos NER or LNER butI built it under the watchful eye of my late friend Fred Rowntree of the Whitby club. The front bogie is pivoted ahead of the bogie pin so that as the loco runs in a curve it draws the bogie forward and doesn’t foul the cylinders. Derek
  12. And best wishes to you, Adrian. I hope we will see plenty of your delightful modelling in 2023. Derek
  13. Very nicely done Paul, running really well. Perhaps you would like to bring it down to Kirkby Malham for a running session. You would have to bribe the directors, to allow you to put your engine on their lines though. Derek
  14. Midland Leyburn Junction to Bradford (Market Street). sometime in June 1908, passing through Canal Road station, drawn by one of Mr Johnsons 2183 class engines. Right hand lines are Skipton to Ilkley.
  15. Just a long view over the station throat. q
  16. Another shot of the afternoon goods setting off. Because of the amount of stock in the yard, the made up train was stored on the up line. NPCS in foreground are in the milk dock. Derek
  17. On another day, another goods is being handled by a 3030 class engine. In truth a George Norton kit, built about 25 years ago. I painted this one, Larry Goddard the class M. On this occasion the loco is making up an empty and sets off for Skipton yard, picking up at the intermediate stations on the way. Yard still full of wagons. Busy day at the office, I suppose. Derek
  18. A few more pics of doings at KM. Mainly shunting operations, I haven’t run a passenger all year, but Iwill enlarge on that later. First is my class M, now just about 60 years old. I built it in 1962 Coming out of the loco yard. Pic 2, during banging wagons about Pic 3 returning to shed, crossing over slips to gain arrival line. Derek
  19. Here is the Kirtley Well Tank, built over a period of about 20 years, starting in 1965.. Painted by Larry Goddard. The vehicle is a Kirtley designed brake van, again scratch built from a drawing in I think, the Model Railway News. The notice on the side of the van reads. : Kirkby Malham Branch Only. Derek
  20. Hi Lez, It was scratch built back in 1966. It took about 15 years in the building. I turned the chimney on my new Unimat and forgot about it until much later found it and built the mainframes. Into a box it went for a year or two, and so it went on. Painted by my good mate Larry Goddard. Derek
