Midland class M coming off shed

crossing into the yard. This loco is over 60 years old. I scratch built it to show a work colleague that loco building was not particularly difficult. We built one each in tandem to EM gauge.

mine was painted and lined by my friend Larry Goddard, his was still in its raw state when he died a few years ago

Yes, this loco is of that age. Bought from the late lamented C&G models at the Newcastle Show. Nice kit to build if my memory serves me correctly.

Hello Mark

Here is my build from a Little Engines Kit.

I think it is an A7, Iam not very knowledgeable about locos NER or LNER butI built it under the watchful eye of my late friend Fred Rowntree of the Whitby club.

The front bogie is pivoted ahead of the bogie pin so that as the loco runs in a curve it draws the bogie forward and doesn’t foul the cylinders.

Another shot of the afternoon goods setting off. Because of the amount of stock in the yard,the made up train was stored on the up line.

On another day, another goods is being handled by a 3030 class engine. In truth a George Norton kit, built about 25 years ago.

I painted this one, Larry Goddard the class M.

On this occasion the loco is making up an empty and sets off for Skipton yard, picking up at the intermediate stations on the way.

Yard still full of wagons. Busy day at the office, I suppose.

Here is the Kirtley Well Tank, built over a period of about 20 years, starting in 1965.. Painted by Larry Goddard.

The vehicle is a Kirtley designed brake van, again scratch built from a drawing in I think, the Model Railway News.

The notice on the side of the van reads. : Kirkby Malham Branch Only.

Hi Lez,

It was scratch built back in 1966. It took about 15 years in the building. I turned the chimney on my new Unimat and forgot about it until much later found it and built the mainframes. Into a box it went for a year or two, and so it went on.
