  1. Hi Guys Sorry to resurrect an old issue I have looked through other posts but cant find a clear answer, the question is below in bold. I have a Hornby class 31 well over 10 years old. It has been in the loft (probably for that long) as i started to focus on 009. Its likely been sitting in the box 12 years. R2413 its gone at one end in the classic place (cab extension area) Its not too bad...... A little buffer droop Broken in the area (but the lights were working) body has some cracking both ends. Do i file it smooth, try to straighten out. Then glue the body, weather it a bit and refit (filing a little more for the best fit). Or am I wasting my time my time and it will just get worse. If so I shall take it apart and consider my options. Thanks guys
  2. Yes thats correct they do indeed have the oil lamp fittings in the roof. So that makes sense. Hornby need to update their product pictures. The bottom looks very errrrr naked though. Mys eyes keep being drawn to its bareness.......lol Cheers for that Nile
  3. I got 5 from Derails as soon as they came out. I like them. But the light bleed on my examples is terrible especially the 6 wheel brake. I shall probably take them apart and paint them. In fact I was about to do this when I realised that R40127 and R40130 did not have any gas cylinders on the base. Anyone else missing gas cylinders? No sign of them in the detail pack either I shall probably contact derails later today about it. Cheerho all
  4. AliExpress is a strange site as not only do prices fluctuate due to exchange rate but also I should think demand. I got mine during one of the many 'promotions' they do. I'm keeping and eye on them.as I think I would like to enlarge my fleet by 3 more. Those pics are great Adam.
  5. They run really well and at a average cost of about £9 each they really are good (I paid 36 dollars for 3) . Right time to stop fiddling with stock and start the layout.
  6. Bought a rake of 9 on a whim Have painted the inside grey (light came through the yellow plastic) Painted the detailing parts white. And put some FNA transfers on (I didn't have any better ones) And so in the spirit of rule one I have my own infrastructure rake.
  7. About the closest wargame in terms of scale and theme I can think of is 'all quiet on the Martian front'. Sadly out of production. https://www.beastsofwar.com/sci-fi-wargaming/war-begins-martian-front-invasion-starter-set/
  8. Rails of Sheffield have had some of '30-325 'Ambulance Train No.40' come in stock so have posted pictures of the actual set. https://railsofsheffield.com/ambulance-train-no-40-collectable-train-pack-30-325-JJJA26068.aspx I have not seen them in the flesh but do feel that the coaches being the older molding look very plastic and lack detail. Most disappointing is the ends of the coaches! As the picture on the pack shows a flat end with little raised detail. however both end coaches in the pack appear to have the corridor connectors doors simply stuck on the side of the coach then painted over. The City loco looks nice however but is the livery accurate? I will have to see this in the flesh before i buy it. Really wish the N gauge ww1 set was going to be in OO too.
  9. I totally agree that full RRP for a worth museum is fine However its the postage that really gets on my nerves not only is it FULL cost. It is also, in my experience of buying City and Deltic (on its first run), hellishly slow. I almost bought Hornbys Lode star from STEAM but was put off by the horrendous postage ( i also felt it was quite expensive in itself but it was mainly the postage) Cheerho
  10. Been looking into the whole ambulance train and have quite gone off the Bachmann pack. Maybe when more details come out with preview images I may change my mind. I am quite envious of the N gauge landships set with the tanks now.
  11. I would really like one of these in early GW but Lode star is just too expensive. dont get me wrong i am more than happy to pay for an excellent model but many of these replys just put me off. Maybe if 'Steam' do their own QC on them so i am more likely to get a good un. Shame i have supported the NRM's Bachmann specials cheerho
  12. mine Arrived last week from goldstarstockists GWR green was my choice have to say i'm really happy a very handsome loco excellent price too Only issue was the bell that should sit on the right hand side of the cab had fallen off. still its back in place now after i found out what it was Thanks to the blue bell for preserving this loco (and taking a really useful picture of the cab) cheerho
  13. It will be a great shame if the ambulance train coaches are an old tooling with a modern loco, especially as Hornbys WW1 troop train also appears to be a modern tooling with old coaches. still the price (if compaired to the NRM's full rrp and high postage) is lookin reasonable. I shall probably order one. I disagree that there are not many ww1 modellers out there. There are a good number especially in 009 who would im sure love to make 009/00 transfer yards A RTR ROD loco would be great (they already make the locos just need the liverys) No better time for the RTR manufactures to help make that demand. cheerho
