No, but the Fleischmann locomotive does cost almost twice the price of the 4-car HST. I'm sure that for £300 Dapol could produce a HST model to the same standards as Fleischmann, but how many people would buy it?

They may have been cutting edge, but when you are at the forefront of technology you often end up in going down expensive dead ends and failures. Everyone who is waxing lyrical about the Class 60 seems to either forgotten or be unaware of how long it took to get them into traffic and working reliably. BR could afford this lengthy period of bedding in, but there's no way today's freight companies would be that patient. The Class 66s may be crude and less powerful, but they worked pretty well straight from the start without any major problems which couldn't be said about the Class 60.

I was just going to say that I've always thought that a Minories type plan would particularly suit a MU based layout and it would be quite easy and quick to build and prefect if you are short of space.

I doubt it as there will always be parts of the network that carry freight trains, but with not enough traffic to justify electrifying them.

I dunno about that, as the Heljan version of a Parcels Sector 47 ended up being sold off cheaply by the box shifters so presumably it didn't sell very well.
