  1. Hi, I have not seen mention of it but they had a sample of the OO gauge HIA at Warley 2015 in their cupboard. Photo 1: Photo 2: Cheers, Ixion.
  2. I am surprised there are few details available online. The first rule of marketing is surely to let the customers know what's for sale?! I'll look out for my copy of HM78, in which there are supposedly details, but for now the only reference I can find to which ones will be produced in the first batch are in post #72 of this thread - not saying there isn't a list elsewhere. If there is, then please post one. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/64001-Hornby-magazine-oo-gauge-brake-tender/?p=1227575 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ UPDATE: In HM Issue 88, there are some details on page 8: HM010: B964038E BR Green HM011: B964064 BR Green SYP HM012: B964112 BR Green SYP HM013: .............. BR Blue, yellow panels The BR blue one (HM013) reads as if it's the same number as HM012 (i.e. B964112). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The way to order is also given here: http://www.hornbymagazine.com/view_article.asp?ID=7114&pubID=38&t=0&s=0&p=1&i=10#continued I must get an order in too, if it's not too late... Hope that helps for now. Cheers, Ixion.
  3. Hi all, I haven't seen photos of this item yet but here are some of Lord and Butler's Western Invader D1009 in maroon, with yellow buffer beam. It's a lovely model in the flesh! An advice note comes with the model to say: Dapol D1009 WESTERN INVADER LIMITED EDITION PRICE AND SPECIFICATION ALTERATION Please note the cost of this model is now £139.95 However each model now comes with etched name, number and works plates and all roof panel lifting eyes factory fited. Consdering the price of other specials (STEAM's D1000, WLA's D1062 and KMRC's weathered versions), the original price was a little lower in the first place by comparison. The model comes with a photo quality Limited Edition certificate and a copy of the history of the loco (very similar to the website detail page here http://www.lordandbutler.co.uk/lordandbutler.co.uk/Western_Invader.html). Detail pack and headcode number inserts are also included, as standard. Lord and Butler D1009 Side Lord and Butler D1009 Side, Name Lord and Butler D1009 Side, Number Lord and Butler D1009 Front, Angled Lord and Butler D1009 Front Hope you like! Cheers, Ixion.
  4. Hi all, I have a question (possibly for Dapol Dave!). I watched a DVD the other day and there was reference to one Western livery being Gloss Black! It was pointed out that this only occurred whilst in works and was not seen out on the mainline. So, the question is - did this really happen? I am wondering if this was just a myth, a livery only in preservation, a play on Sir Misha Black or that it happened at all. I can only imagine what it would look like... and with a small yellow panel would probably look superb! So, the Dapol Dave question is... are you going to... well, you know the rest!! Cheers, Ixion.
  5. Hi Mattmeister / Robert Shrives, regarding the Mk3 buffet, the Dapol price list quotes it as being: NC216H MK3 FIRST GREAT WESTERN MK3 BUFFET #40210' It also shows the other two coaches as: 2P-005-000 MK3 FIRST GREAT WESTERN 1ST CLASS 41103 'G' 2P-005-001 MK3 First Great Western 2nd Class 42083 'E' The pricelist is useful to cover some of the typos in the catalogue. Cheers, Ixion
  6. Hi Mattmeister, although you were asking about 'in the pipeline...' I can tell you that NC-213A and NC-213B are both Mk3 2nd class FGW Dynamic Lines coaches (42038 / 42296 respectively) and were released earlier this year. Not sure if there are still stocks around but if you look you may be lucky. Hope that's of use... Cheers, Ixion.
  7. Hi DapolDave, I noticed you mentioned in Post #615 that there are 2 versions of D1000 for STEAM... are you sure? As far as I can tell, they only advertised one and the order form currently only lists one. I'd be interested to know if STEAM have another version being made - if so, do you have details? As far as I can tell, just 'STEAM' and 'Lord and Butler' are doing specials... are there others too? Very much looking forward to seeing these Thanks in advance, Ixion.
  8. Hi all, just noticed this on Heljan's website - announcement regarding releases - within days! http://www.Heljan.dk/faste_filer/modul.asp?vis=nyhedmod&fModul=web644.asp&mode=laesnyhed&artikelid=297 Cheers, Ixion.

    Dapol Class 22

Hi all, it sounds like Dapol are releasing different Class 22 numbers to those listed the other day, over on 'the other channel' (f/B)... Dapol state to ignore the current numbers and that the correct ones will be posted on f/b and their website soon. So, until then, it's best to wait to see what Dapol more formally announce. I expect that they have listened - full marks to them if this be the case, I say! Cheers, Ixion.

    Dapol Class 22

All, I was quoting word for word, letter for letter, so I hope Mr Dapol will confirm ... though I assume he does the Facebook entries too...?? Cheers, Ixion.

    Class 26

Hi scruff, Dapol have a picture on their Facebook website. You don't need to be a member to view it here. Hope that answers your question - basically, no windows, if I understand you correctly. Cheers, Ixion.
  13. Hi Pete Piszczek, from a call to the museum, they said that it's likely to be around December this year. However, it is all subject to things going smoothly. Osborns Models were advertising their version in N a while back - March I think it was. Hope that helps? Cheers, Ixion.
  14. Hi david12345, I'm glad you got a 97403 too - superb model! I've got one and yes, it was Modelzone. My reference to Rail Express was because of the reference in Ramsey's guide, which suggested it had been produced before Modelzone but to date, I have seen no evidence to support it went ahead. Judging by pheaton and Enterprisingwestern's replies, it sounds like a number of changes would be needed. That said, I wonder if a new tooling altogether would be worth it (not just for 45106)? With modern tooling abilities, many of the variant may be possible, including (in my opinion) the more appealing nose seam type. Loads of Tinsley unofficial named locos to give a variety of specials... like a themeable yearly release, similar to the Hornby Commonwealth A4s. Class 97s too, working front headlights, 45112 (Fragonset)... The question is, how many people would then buy them, given the large investment by a manufacturer? The alternative is to make a compromise and offer a green 45106 with the current tooling, despite some/many flaws. Personally, I think it might sell and would put my money where my mouth is... Cheers, Ixion. P.S.: I saw many lines of 45s and 97s at Tinsley Open Day in the 1990s... a sad sight but even more sadly for me, I never got to see 45106 but still think it was possibly the most appealing, particularly with its link to the memory of the great Tinsley Traction Depot.
  15. Hi iankemp, the Replica models were the ones they used to sell themselves and not specials for Model Rail. Reference to them is made in Ramsay's guide... though they also mention blue unnamed and completely unpainted versions were available too, though I never saw them. In that sense, Model Rail only ever mentioned Bachmann versions of 45106 (Tinsley green) and 45128 (BR blue)... I forget exactly when but it was at least 2 to 3 years ago. it just seemed odd to chose the exact same two as Replica, where there are plenty of other blue ones they could have chosen. Cheers, Ixion.
  16. Hi david 12345, Thanks for the compliment but sadly, I'm no expert in the real things I do like all things RTC though However, I have been following who commissions what for many years. It's steadily got harder to keep track with all these specials. However, when 45106 & 45128 (oddly, the same two as Replica's pair) was originally mentioned by Model Rail, I did sit up and watch... All I know is that as far as specials are concerned: 45048 'Royal Marines', BR blue, split headcodes, Modelzone D55 'Royal Signals', weathered green, Southampton Model Centre (also, later with sound as a standard run) 97403 'Ixion' (!), RTC red/blue, Modelzone... though Rail Express seemed to be referenced in certain literature but I've never seen proof of it having happened (including Rail Exclusive's own website). Also, this is a 46, not a 45 . TMC - used to produce a number of 45s, with nose seam I gather... possibly extra runs from the Modelzone/TMC tooling, but currently not showing on their website (sold out?). This might suggest that the tooling is there, potentially... I wonder whether, if TMC were approached (or Modelzone?), that they may be interested? Cheers, Ixion.
  17. Hi david12345, I believe you are correct. Chris Leigh himself said on the old forum that they were cancelled: Model Rail 'Peaks' 45106 and 45128 have, reluctantly, been cancelled. CHRIS LEIGH The exact reason is not clear but perhaps it was lack of nose tooling? Maybe Chris can advise... EDIT: Chris had suggested it was tooling related, stating: No boiler roof detail/no steps up the side. CHRIS LEIGH Hope that clears up who was going to do it. Cheers, Ixion.
  18. Hi 47423, I believe it's the end of May to guarantee a reservation. I too have to decide and was going to contact them this week, to be safe. It says in the top of the green box at the bottom right of the second page, marked "Don't miss out, order today" (<---Click the link for the .pdf Web Flyer file). Hope that helps. Cheers, Ixion.
  19. Hi all, I won't say much about Dapol, given this is a Heljan thread, but I believe the Dapol/Model Rail Sentinel is a 4mm unit... and that unit's mechanism seemed to run really smoothly when I saw it at the Warley show. Despite being smaller, a larger, heavier loco 'iron out' differences in running smoothness. So, to be fair to Dapol, I would reserve judgement on them until their final production models are released. Regarding Heljan, however, I was pleased to see another couple of gloss finish Westerns announced. The gloss maroon Western (and green Class 15) look really good, in my view. For me, it is a little sad to see D1000 being released again, given it was in the last set of releases but I guess that gives more people the chance to own one, so not really a bad thing. I assume it will have a full sand front end and not a half yellow, as it is described as being 'ex-works gloss'? I understand that limited numbers of all of them are to be produced, so I expect Heljan are confident of smaller sales. To Heljan, I say Good Luck - I am certainly contemplating one (or two!), even though I am still looking to the other manufacturer's offerings in the near(ish ) future Cheers, Ixion.
  20. Hi Garry D100, I think you are most likely to be right there! Howes' 'programmer' has plenty of experience on these matters and is very enthusiastic about the whole sound subject. IF they have chosen him to help them with their enquiries , then the sound should be just fine. Other sound programming companies are also available... (Well, it is Friday...!) Thanks also, Garry D100, for bringing a useful/interesting new bit of information to the forum about these models. Cheers, Ixion. P.S. cromptonnut - good luck with your wedding list! Who knows, after 7 years, you should celebrate the Anniversary with a request for a Class 07 to go with the 33s (assuming someone makes one by then)!!
  21. Hi Garry D100, my point, exactly Now, who is getting what? Which is most popular? Where do they fit in to people's layouts? Let's hear these sorts of comments from now on, please Cheers, Ixion.
  22. Hi all, this one has certainly caused a stir I think Jamie's response was 'fair'. There are plenty of reasons for which Rail Exclusive or their partners in the project may have that require twin packs to be offered but, rightly or not rightly so, we, the customer, may not be able to be party to those reasons (legal or commercial). We still have the right to disagree and feel disappointed. I would strongly prefer to see single loco options too ( ) and cannot see the immediate benefit of enforcing sales of twin packs... but that's just me. Who owns the tooling? We can all make guesses as to the contractual ownership but I would imagine that only Rail Exclusive and Heljan know this. I applaud Rail Exclusive recognising people's concerns by opening up a Facebook account for people to swap purchase options - is this a first by a commissioning body? It is up to people doing so to make their arrangements risk free - perhaps request a half payment, up front? As for price - well, ~£100 per loco seemed high to me but then this is a special venture. The RRP is between £79 and £89 for Heljan 33s. As others have said before, we are used to getting discount... but this is not usually the case with specials or limited editions. Perhaps £10 is the price we have to suffer to get a more appealing model. I am sure we all wish Rail Exclusive every success with the project and hope everyone gets a model of what they want (be it one, two or more, with/without sound!). Personally, I would like to know which models are the most popular - I rather like the DRS, 'Dutch' and Construction Sectors B) . How do you like yours? Cheers, Ixion.
