NRM should ask for it to go on loan for the "Speed ex" there having lol

  2. Well wasn't expecting Tornado to spend nearly an hour at Haywards Heath on the way back to Lewes. Tornado Effect still in full swing as the car park has never been that full of people before when I've been down there.

  3. Finally had Tornado through my hometown. Mind you I also saw her two days ago as well.

  5. Sat at home and watching F1 but strangely I hear train whistles and Tangmere has been through and not returned yet and I don't normally hear the Bluebell locos.

    Hornby P2

Got an email from Hattons yesterday and its saying that P2 is now expected to arrive with them on or after 14th October 2013 which is good because my last email from them at the start of March was saying December.
  9. Was surprised to see in my Arsenal programme yesterday to see an article looking back to a previous programme from 1936 covering the news of the LNER naming the B17 2848 after the club.

  11. Can't wait to go to the Bluebell tomorrow.

Will just stick to buying the Higher Detail version then and leaving it as it is then.

    Hornby P2

A part of me would be tempted to buy a Railroad version, paint it Garter Blue, apply LNER Stainless Steel 501 numbers (Cock O' The North's Thompson number) and letters. Not authentic to a P2 but was for Post War A4's and it might look good on a P2 The main reason for this though is because as someone with no modelling experience it seems like an easier option to paint it Garter Blue as its a fairly basic liviery with little lining and using the Stainless Steel lettering would probably be easier than me trying to use Gold Leaf transfers. Although painting the wheels red would be a bit tricky.
  14. Yeah fires do seem to cropping up quite a bit at the moment. A Gatwick Express Class 442 caught fire at London Victoria last week (the day after the Helicopter crash in Central London). I don't have much interest in Diesels but I think 47500 was the one of the last diesels I saw last month (twice I think once at Haywards Heath on the rear of a RTC tour with 34067 Tangmere and then again in York just before Christmas) along with another Class 47(In BR Blue) and a WCRC Class 37.
  15. Having an afternoon of watching Railway DVD's that arrived yesterday. Starting with Britain's Railways The Golden Age of the Big Four then I have the boxset of Central Steam. Just waiting for my Kingfisher Bulleid Pacific DVD as well as my Series 1 and 2 of Chris Barries Britains Greatest Machines and Mark Williams On The Rails.

    Hornby P2

I must say I prefer the design Hornby (and the A1 Trust) have gone for which is 2001 and 2002 as built. Its for me one of the most beautiful locos built. I'm a big fan of Gresley and his locos but I'm not keen on the rebuilt P2's, the 2 streamlined B17's and the hand full of A4's in Apple Green as for me it doesn't seem to suit them.
  17. My Mum bought me a Flying Scotsman 4 DVD set with Flying Scotsman (1929 Film), Tender Memories (1966), Australia (1988 and sadly already have) and A Year in the Life (2000). I just watched Tender Memories and was delighted to see 4472 steaming near Haywards Heath and a few shots of her at Brighton. A shame it was 25 years before I was born. Hopefully one day it can happen again.

    Hornby P2

If anyone can find a suitable 4-6-2 chassis to fit a Railroad P2 body and paint the body and tender Garter Blue then add stainless steel letters and numbers (or silver painted letters and numbers) then you have the cover picture loco on the front of Robin Barnes book 'Locomotives That Never Were'. I quite like the ideas that other posters have come up with about different livieries. I'm quite excited by the P2 and have the full spec version on pre order also coming from Liverpool along with 6 Preserved A4's, 60163 in BR Blue and 71000. Despite coming from deep Southern territory (and only about 15 miles from the old Brighton Works) I have a great fondness of the locos of the GNR and LNER especially Sir Nigel Gresley's.
  19. So now I just need to see 4489 Dominion of Canada and I've seen all 6 Preserved A4's. 2 of which I saw for the first time today as well as Mallard again. To celkebrate I bought The Book of the A4 Pacifics. Roll on next year to see all 6 together.

Good choice, be sure to get the photographic accompanyments too. ONly one I've got to bag now is 60009.

  20. After seeing some great Hornby announcements, Santi (Cazorla) Claus gave me extra reasons to be happy

  21. To many locos I want from Hornby. Trouble is a lack of a space for a decent sized layout to run them on (at the moment its just a small circle of track with nothing else on it)

  22. Looking forward to Saturday. Planning a visit to the NRM and just looked to see any railtours in York and without knowing found out that both 5043 (which funnily enough went to York last time I went there in June) and 60009 will be coming in on tours. That means I can finally see 60009 as well as 60008.

  23. Off to see 60163 Tornado tomorrow at Chertsey

  24. Thinking of doing the Cathedrals Express with 6201 from Euston to Kidderminster for the SVR Gala on 22nd September (2 days after my birthday)as a birthday treat for myself. Haven't been on the SVR since 1999, a railtour since 2010 and a tour with Lizzie since 2002.

sounds good is lizzie there for the weekend or is she on the return working?

I think 6201 is on the return as the tour actually goes to Cheltenham with the option of getting off at Kidderminster or Worcester.

  25. Great day at Railfest. Time for bed I think as I was up at 5:00am and its nearly midnight.
