  1. Any chance of a tutorial on how you made those white decorative supports......? B)
  2. I wouldn't get too carried away - a 'member' is what I call somebody when they hack me off...

Amazing progress Dave - starting to really look the business!
  4. Going for Gold - Shed 7. Greatest hits(?) album by an underrated band.
  5. Morning all, some nice pics around the forum today. I think it's going to be a slow Sunday for me too, it was a slow Saturday so no point in doing anything and killing the ambience. I might have a go at a 7mm point, but I might not. My next big thing should be arriving soon, after some research I have a Celestron 4.5" reflecting telescope coming - I've had a mild interest in astronomy for most of my life and have always wanted to take a reasonably detailed photo of the moon. Given that I have a halfway decent camera and Photoshop adding this could be the means to do that. We shall see, anyway its an end of range Ebay shop bargain so for the price I paid for it it's an absolute steal, shouldn't have any trouble getting my money back if it doesn't work out. I'm trying to get my toys up together before I retire as I don't think I'll be able to afford them when I do, mind you I think I'll have to get a bigger house soon.... Mine is directly from north to south today, and warm...
  6. Morning all, it's cold, blowing a hooley, must be Bank holiday Monday! Never mind, lots of things to play with indoors (cue smutty remarks...) Don't I know it - Christmas 2010 sees me start call out at 8pm on Friday 24th Dec, because of the above arrangement I finish the first part of my call out at 8am on Weds 29th Dec. - 108 straight hours of misery!

    EBay madness

I sort of can't understand this either - if I find something that causes me aggravation I steer clear of it. Ebay isn't compulsory...
  8. I think he'll have a whale of a time, hope so otherwise he might carp about it.
  9. +1 that!! I don't mean those of us who put time in to get and keep stuff going on preserved railways (well I would say that wouldn't I) although there are some real dumbaXXes amongst that lot, but a small percentage of the mob who turn up for galas etc. Most are ok, but some of them - well, we could well do without them. Had a good day on the MHR yesterday, we had 92212 which meant easy prep and disposal. AY was there for the day, I think he enjoyed himself, we certainly enjoyed having him as our guest on the railway. I'm sure there will be some video and photos kicking around judging by the amount of time he spent behind his cameras, I hope he had better luck with his than I did with my little Sony which definitely had an off day. I'm now going to make a carrot and ginger cake, and then a spot of guitar practice, a bit of Drake's Revenge on the PS3 with maybe a bit of 7mm point making later on for good measure. Some Peroni beer to be drunk at some stage, all in all a good day I hope. Whatever you ERs are doing have a good one.
  10. Here's one: "trees are very widespread. They have branches everywhere"
  11. Double that for the other two lightweights.....
  12. ..and another thing - I had pate on toast yesterday. I thought it was alright as it was, don't know why it would need polishing.
  13. ....and plenty who can pass on pate polishing tips. B)
  14. Good call - I'll get a stepladder.
  15. Morning, well it feels like morning, bad night on call last night. Still only tonight to go then a few hours tomorrow teatime then that's it for another month. It's raining here, hope the weather's not too bad for Andy Y's visit to the MHR on Saturday. Us roughty toughty enginemen can take it, not sure about these pampered forum owners. Re the moon photo: Its a Nikon 80-200mm f2.8 AF-S, super lens, was £750 when new, I got it for £50 from a mate, but that's another story (and no it wasn't nicked!) I've just ordered a Tamron 1.4x teleconverter to make it into a 300mm approx. lens when zoomed. They are very expensive for what they are but perform well - I'm really hoping to take some better shots of the moon using this but we shall see.
  16. Morning all, just surfaced after quite a heavy night with call outs - mind you it wasn't too bad as it started with a call yesterday evening to probably our most idyllic site, a reservoir right out in the sticks which serves Stockbridge. If it wasn't work it would have been something I would have done for fun (almost) beautiful evening, beautiful location, beautiful views. Had a few more calls during the night, but again they weren't too bad as there is something almost magical about being in the depths of the silent, deserted countryside in full moonlight. During an hour's lull in between jobs I took this, any of you photographers out there got any tips on how to take the definitive photo of this thing. Things I did find out last night - you have to underexpose to ridiculous lengths to get any shot at all, and it's almost impossible to focus correctly. Still I was fairly pleased with what i got as it's a first attempt.
  17. i hope she knows how to do the up and under.
  18. Morning all. That's the first marker reached on my call out week, the 60 hour non stop bit is behind me. I can now relax till 16-30 when it all starts again. Bit of an MOT week for me this week, dental check up today then prostate check and well man clinic later in the week. I changed the the prostate check time as originally it was going to be done by a young, quite glamorous female doctor. I'm sure you all know the details of what's involved in this check, so although a doctor is a doctor is a doctor I decided to change to one of the old male ones. I suppose it's weird really, just feel more comfortable this way (not that a prostate check is ever going to be comfortable.) I hope all you older ER's have had / are going to have this check, I've known a couple of people who have ignored things and paid the price. Hope to progress both the 7mm O2 and the guitar playing this week, then it's a day's driving on the MHR on Saturday. I will try and get some pictures of Mr. York enjoying himself (or not) to post on the forum.
  19. Simply stunning - it would have been an achievement if it had been 'just' a well put together kit, but the fact that it is scratchbuilt...as I said, stunning.
  20. You can, but it will be my interpretation of it - it's called 'Oi moosh' (moosh being Hampshire slang for 'you')
  21. Morning all - 36/60 hours down on the call out slog to 0800 Monday. Not too bad so far, the rain will help, stop all you pesky people using lots of water. Going to have a few strums on the Strat then might even get the soldering iron out - but there again I might not.

That's not another hole in the sky is it..?? I reckon it's you who's responsible for all this 'ere global warming I reckon that's going to look the business.
  23. A season of if onlys for Southampton - lousy start to the season then a couple of really silly results. Still it's all there for next season hopefully so wait and see what happens.
