  1. Hello Brian,

if you were to build up the cab roof to the body shell roof you may end up with the wrong shape over the cab windows! That would make the whole front end look wrong, is it possible that the nose is to lowdown or that the window frame's are the wrong shape. The window frames look pretty good to me.

Some thing is wrong and I dont think that it's your build.

    OzzyO.

Its the kit not me have a look here at F-UnitMad's build of the Steve Beattie kit of a Class 22

He had problems withe the cab roof with that kit as well

  2. on my workbench at the mo is a 4mm 97xx this started out as a repaint of the body but the body turned back in to a kit with the paint remover
i have rebuilt the body soldering it & replaced the splitpin handrail knobs for turned ones also i have had to build a Recircvlating weir pump as this when missing the loco is to be finished as 9708
heres a pic of the finished body
i still have to fit a vac pipe on the back but since this will holed the body on i will do that once the body has been painted 7 fitted to the chassie

  3. Like that TPO, Mick. What did you use for the netting?

Interesting what you say about the Marc models lining as well - I have my eye on that for a steel panelled twin which has been part started for some years. You were applying it onto a gloss finish, were you?

looks like the neting you get from 247 developments with there etched net frame

Nice TPO a lot better then the one i built

  4. Hi James,

The model has nameplates printed on but you also get an etched plate too. I doubt any money will go to the real thing unless you buy the model from the A1 Trust. I did this, I could have got it cheaper at my local model store but the profit was going to a good cause, you also get a special A1 Trust headboard.

    Regards,

    Peter

the A1 trust headboard is made by the same maker as the name plates that come with the loco from Bachmann

  5. Excellent news ! How did this news be kept a secret in the hobby I'm amazed.I wonder if etched cabsides and plates are included in the price ? Will anyone dare to weather it I wonder. It looks a fantastic model and will rival the Evening Star as my favourite Bachmann loco.

Yes plates come with the loco name No & tender plates

  6. I think you will find that the Branchline DP1 model was also brand new from the wheels upwards. Chassis is a different length to a class 37 and service delitic. the bogies were unique on the original and the model followed suit. DP1 hardly shared anything in common with the production fleet. The motor was probably about all that was the same on the model, i'll check when i get home!

I think you are crack on with other Citys being released at some point in the future, but as you rightly say, probably leave it for a few years. I know the NRM is always struggling for cash since they stopped charging for admission. It is a cause worth supporting, but i like the idea of waiting for the more modern version with the new OHLE flashes. good idea, i'll hang on.

why would there use a class 37 chassie as it a deltic which Bachmann make anyway

  7. When the NRM/Bachmann did the Deltic they set the price at a level at which they thought it would sell out, it did very quickly and immediately went on ebay at a large premium. A fair number of people were prepared to pay this premium. The NRM could have made more cash from the experiment. Having seen what happened it is surely sensible for the NRM to up the price on the next special loco. Ultimately in a free economy it's the punter who sets the price not the seller. Not for me this time.

    Bernard

also with the Deltic it only needed a New tooling for the body so less cost to cover

But City of Truro is an all new tooling for the chassie, boby & tender so the cost will be higher

  8. Dibber's comment yesterday that "I believe we may know about the OO version at the end of the week...." rather suggests Bachmann. If it was Hornby there'd be no reason to announce it now rather than wait a couple more weeks to Christmas Day when the whole programme is unveiled.

there is it Hornby are making it just for the NRM like the Deltic as it would not be in the Hornby Catalog

then again is it Hornby who is making itrolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif rolleyes.gif cool.gif
