It is so so quiet here today. Bank holiday in Benfleet could be a reference point for quiet. Nothing much happens normally , watching parents parking at school pickup time is our major entertainment. Being a school holiday takes that fun away and we have to make do watching couriers deliver. As we have horrible colds there isn’t much else. I did venture out. My next door neighbours have become very anxious lately and they have gone to Wales. So I got a phone call this morning to say their door camera had reported someone leaving a package and it was one they hadn’t ordered. I didn’t make any facetious comments like “perhaps it is a drug delivery” as the neighbour really is that anxious. So I went round and found the Evri courier had left two packages, one they were expecting, but not today and a mysterious padded envelope from China with no house number and a name no one nearby recognised. I think the rules for part time jobs were different to those for instance working in factories.

A long time ago my brother was supposed to commission a new telephone system in Nigeria. This was in the north and not a place he had worked before. When he arrived all of the equipment had been installed apart from the air conditioning necessary for the equipment to work properly. He said he would wait until it had been installed. Apparently it had been moved for “safekeeping” to a local officials house. He was told,he wouldn’t get his passport and other id (handed over for checking on arrival) back until he had commissioned the exchange. He said he was leaving, and drove back to Lagos where the High Commission said they would deal with it and get him a new passport if necessary. It wasn’t long before someone more important than the local official wanted the equipment update working and when my brother returned the AC was installed and his documents were waiting for him.

I haven’t ever seen a dunnock. Earlier this year I thought for a moment or two I had , but what I saw was a tree sparrow. I hadn’t seen one of these before either so was still very pleased. What was interesting was that it was while I was in area with lots of hedging but no trees!

Some years ago Aditi looked out of a bedroom window and informed me there was a black and white snake on the lawn and I should do something about it. I thought it looked just like the corn snake some friends had as a pet. I thought it was probably dead as it didn’t move. When I turned it over with a stick and looked closer it was just possible to see “made in China” .

Since the cold/cough lurgy erupted on Sunday although I have eaten a variety of things all I really wanted was tea and toast. Though the cup of tea I have just drunk was the first one in a few days that tasted normal. Aditi has loss of appetite too, her cold symptoms started yesterday.

Our microwave beeps. It is so old, it was actually made in Japan.

Aditi usually acts as host for the French conversation evenings on Zoom but due to being unwell last night sent her apologies and asked another committee member to run the meeting. Until now they haven’t needed any code of conduct but one member chose to mock the others, so much so that most people left the meeting. The offender was “Zooming” from his French residence and was saying things to a French woman with him like “Look, English people trying to speak French, Ha, ha “. Aditi now has the task of writing a warning letter. She said she would have ejected him from the room and immediately sent a text telling him why. Tony

Plenty of wild garlic about. Spätzle are just another noodle. I do like them.It is noticeable when you get south enough in Germany how they appear.

Probably one of them. I must have had a cross between gormless and disinterested when I submitted the one for my bank account. I have to try to recreate it when authorising new payments.

We had arranged to take a neighbour to Southend Hospital tomorrow. As we seem to be riddled with some respiratory pestilence we said we thought it wasn’t advisable. Aditi was fine but started coughing on the way back from Canvey and had gone for,a lie down after her clinic visit. We had said we would take the neighbour as her partner (Lee) couldn’t get the person whose house he is rebuilding to give him the morning off. Claimed the whole project would fail and he didn’t care about our neighbour’s personal problems. However Lee had a workplace accident on Monday and can’t do building work at present. However as it was his left knee he is fine for driving their automatic car tomorrow.

Probably eye to eye and eye to nostril distance ratios. Though holding the phone or tablet for a selfie could be problematic.

True and also learn from that pear shaped event.

I should have been going to the dentist this morning but cancelled as my cold/cough would make a dental check up difficult. I reckon I am ok to take Aditi to the clinic on Canvey so she can have a biopsy done. I won’t go into the clinic though. Aditi has been given the “should not drive afterwards “ advice.

When I fell over in the French Alps last year, sprained everything from the knee down on my left leg. I managed to find various supports and straps that helped, and for me, paracetamol worked nicely. However it wasn’t a knee joint just ankle. Something made a horrible noise as I went over!

They don’t save the photo, just the biometric information, like the ratio between certain facial features (allegedly).

I am coughing, sneezing and feeling very yuck. I haven’t had a proper cold for years, making up for it now. I don’t think it is allergies, the person I sat next to at the restaurant last Friday is unwell too. Aditi has kept her distance from me today as she has to,go for a biopsy tomorrow. As I found out recently the local dermatology service,is,very efficient.

I wonder if there are two systems running, one which deletes words and one which replaces them with #####.

I think a couple of words have been removed by the censor system.

Have the ladies at the warehouse started bringing cakes in for you yet…

My mother had a skin graft. The graft was fine but the donor site never recovered.

Probably because they don’t smoke
