  1. Isn’t it strange that it is always in the last place you search….
  2. I have seen it.It isn’t that far from the mainland.
  3. Just shows how clean and innocent your browsing history is….
  4. There is a good reason for limiting packets to 16. Aditi’s brother who is a GP explained the reasoning and it apparently has worked.
  5. You can tell what an exciting online life I lead, most of my “what to watch” alerts have been about the latest Bluey episode…
  6. Airbus A321 today…
  7. The cabbage in the 1950s was horrible. I hope no one tries to bring that back.
  8. We were on holiday in Austria when Matthew was a teenager and one of the wires on his orthodontic braces snapped and was sticking into the inside of his cheek. I think Matthew must have taken a few modelling tools on holiday to assemble some Warhammer figures if the weather was bad. He was really good while I cut the wire and fed the end into a gap between the teeth. On return the orthodontist said it was a very good temporary repair.
  9. My choice of baked bean doesn’t have any.
  10. Sometimes you will read a label that states “ethically sourced palm oil”. I think this means a letter of apology had been sent to the displaced orangutans.
  11. I was a bit worried as I was worried that there may have been a jar of chilli jam at the back of a cupboard. It wasn’t, it was cactus and orange spread. Unopened, I suppose a present purchased by someone at an airport shop after a holiday in the Canary Islands.
  12. Morning all. It is sunny here and quite warm. Very quiet so far today, I can’t hear even the birdies tweeting. I did wake up early and arrange my iPad so I could watch/listen to the F1 race but dozed off and only really noted the podium ceremony. If we do anything other than prepare food today it will be a bonus, we are both still a bit post viral. We were on standby for emergencies with MiL in Enfield over the last week while Aditi’s sister was in Switzerland but fortunately we were not needed. We had fish and chips last night. Not from a local chip shop but from the supermarket as part of our weekly delivery. The beer batters haddock came with two sauce pots, one mushy peas and the other curry sauce. I don’t think I have ever had curry sauce with chips before though I may have done so in the Netherlands. Chips were McCains Home Fries which I buy because I like them. Through reading the packet I found out that broad bean flour exists. Educational as well. Tony
  13. It has already been ultra processed, from grass and water by a cow…
  14. I can remember when I was just over 60kg but I prefer not to as I was really ill at the time. I don’t think my height at 182cm has changed though. Once the medical profession had sorted me out something was mentioned about putting on some weight. However it had progressed somewhat beyond what was envisaged.
  15. Odd that, I too sprinkle a tiny amount on chips. Though I have tried unsalted crisps and I quite liked them, though no one else did.
  16. The washing machine has a door…
  17. Our friend sent us a cookery book published by someone from her small town in Connecticut and included a set of spoon and measuring cups. I am sure I am not imagining it but I think the waffle maker we bought a few years ago came with Australian cups to go with the recipe book.
  18. Yes, I do. Also, slow cooker crock pots and Breville toasted sandwich makers. We never had a George Foreman grill. After Aditi’s family forgave us for getting married they held a Havan where their friends could celebrate Aditi’s readmission to the family. Gifts were brought. I am sure some of these had been circulating through the Indian community like some sort of cargo cult for quite some time. There was an Indian copy of a Breville toaster and a slow cooker without a mains lead. As for worktop gadgets we have a breadmaker, a waffle maker, a Kenwood Chef, coffee machine, a panini press, an ice cream machine (not used much now), food processor, and a grill/oven combi microwave. Smaller stuff hides in cupboards. Breadmaker and microwave probably get the most use. Just remembered there is a kettle too. Some of the above devices live on the utility room worktops. I am sure Australian residents will be horrified that we make bread and coffee in the same room as the washing machine and tumble dryer.
  19. Thanks to horticultural explorers we can have sweet without all the sugar associated problems. I was at the RHS garden years ago and there was a plant from South America called Stevia that was used as a sweetener. Now used in reduced sugar baked beans. When Aditi makes desserts she reduces the sugar content drastically. This does mean that rhubarb crumble tastes of rhubarb though. We have got used to it , like using very little salt in recipes. This makes eating out a bit noticeable about just how much salt commercial cooking uses.
  20. My Mum had some similar device sourced from Lidl or Aldi too, She didn’t really like cooking and didn’t like the oven in the retirement flat she had bought .
  21. Old tea towels (clean of course) work quite well for fruit in the bottom trays of the fridge. We don’t want all the bananas we buy for a week to ripen at once so half get wrapped in a tea towel and get taken out a couple of days before we want them.
  22. Our neighbours are returning from North Wales today to the relative calm of South Essex. I think they hoped to set off before Storm Kathleen affected their journey. It is a bit blustery here and isn’t expected to be much worse later today.
  23. This was I believe an app for for members of a political party to pay for access to,other members contact details.
