First sighting of a red kite right over our house. They've been encroaching into South Wales from Brecon for some while but not yet seen one right over head - until now!
Was on my way to Scaleforum when I saw one land on the roof of a house on the outskirts of Aylesbury. I imagined the whole house shuddering as it touched down.
Get them round here all the time. Saw one trying to pick up some 'roadkill' from the Down Main at Cholsey a couple of years ago and having several near misses with HSTs!
Being Carrion rather than Birds of Prey, and not very agile, they are becoming roadkill themselves when trying to pick up the roadkill. So common in the Chilterns now they have been forced to spread further afield for food.
