  1. Thanks for that explanation John. I must admit, I wasn't aware that some decoders had that capability. I am using a Tsunami 2 - I will check it out.
  2. The Sweetholme layouts were/are excellent Ray. More photos of either would be great. I see you’re at Spalding next year. Sue and I had a great time last weekend there. Very busy and lots of interest.
  3. All these solutions are really useful guys! I have had a touch of the “incandescent bulb failures” and now have 2 Athearns, an SD45-2 and an SD75M to sort out. I was planning to try some 2mm DCC Supplies lighthouse LEDs, by tapering the tips with a file, to fit into the 1.4mm body holes. One question, I don’t see any mention or picture showing the existence of resistors in your excellent solutions offered. What did you do with them?
  4. That's good to know - thanks very much for responding
  5. Hi folks! I would welcome some advice. I have some locomotives that have failed incandescent bulbs that are about 1.4mm in diameter. I have sourced some 2mm lighthouse type LEDs from DCC Supplies and the holes will therefore require widening. My question is, as an alternative, what would be the likely impact of carefully reducing the diameter of the tip of the LED. Does anyone know if it would degrade the brightness? I do not intend to conduct radical surgery. I might slightly increase the hole width and marginally reduce the LED. Comments would be appreciated. Thanks.
  6. It great to see visitors enthusiastically anticipating the shows, without that enthusiasm the hobby would suffer. However, you have to draw a line somewhere. If the show starts at 10 and impatient people are let in 5 mins early, where does it end next time - giving access a further 5 mins before the unofficial 5 mins early time? I wouldn’t be surprised if insurance cover had something to do with compliance to entry.
  7. Looking forward to presenting US O Arcadia Pennsylvania Terminal. A picture will follow shortly.....
  8. Sue and I really enjoyed the Spalding Exhibition. Excellent show with impressive numbers of visitors throughout both days and we appreciated the kind comments about 29th Street. Well done to Tom, and the team (esp. Fiona and “Shaun”), for organising and delivering a great weekend experience.
  9. 29th Street Wharf all set up, tested, and ready to go. Excellent venue!
  10. Thoroughly enjoyed the show on Sunday, great atmosphere and an excellent range of layouts, from “N to O”, British, American, Japanese - even included live steam! Well done to Peter and the team!
  11. Yes, some good choice comments - that we could all make when in front of cameras, I imagine. I have to say, when I saw the shattered state of the chap who finished his “flagging” session, I was in hysterics when the team leader said they would all go out clubbing afterwards. I say this with absolute light-heartedness, but perhaps he could have joked, instead, we’ll take our colleague to the hospital! Really enjoyed the programme again.
  12. Looking forward to bringing US HO "29th Street Wharf". View of the harbour-side stone terminal area, although this has very recently been enhanced.
  13. Certainly, the winners deserved it. Unfortunately, we do have to agree to disagree. As for your other comments, perhaps RMWeb should provide a little emoji button for recognising a touch of mean-spiritedness.
  14. Well done Adam, and the team. You packed a lot of effort and content into that. Lot of pressure to deliver that, even with some preformed elements, in “24 hrs”. All three teams did well and played the challenge correctly - although a few moments of “professional fouls” can sometimes add to the spice!
  15. Well, I have arrived late to this thread - better late than never. Atlas O Pennsylvania Alco RS1 #5633 - on duty at Arcadia Pennsylvania Terminal. Shortly to be on view at the MMRS December exhibition. Originally fitted with A TMSS legacy sound system - ripped out and now running with a simple MRC Sounder chip linked to the original (powerful) TMSS/Atlas speaker. Runs with 2 china drives, wired in series, and is controlled via an Atlas D408SR v35, 4 amp decoder.
  16. How true Ray. They don’t know what they are missing - but then you can’t win them all!
  17. Thoroughly enjoyed the weekend, great show thanks to Ian and his freindly and supportive team. My only problem is that we have to miss the exhibition next year, although we look forward to 2020 with a new GB layout.
  18. Excellent foliage modelling there John. Must admit, it is something I have to get a proper handle on.
  19. Hi John, good to see the list. Not long now. Clayton End coming along nicely! See you soon.
  20. Arcadia Pennsylvania back home, after another excellent weekend at the Perth Exhibition. Yet again a great atmosphere and even managed to get a look at some very good layouts. Well done to Stan and the team for putting on a great show. The only surprise for me was that I didn't realise Perth was on the Equator!
  21. Another excellent weekend at the LYDCC - what a thoroughly enjoyable time in a venue with so much atmosphere! Many thanks to Peter, Wayne, and all the rest of the MRX2018 team, for your hard work; and for managing so well with the distraction of someone's wedding, the FA Cup Final, and the Manchester Marathon !!
  22. Thanks Stan, will see you at the Friday set up. Not long now!
  23. Looking forward to returning to Perth, this time with Arcadia Pennsylvania Terminal: a grubby Louisville & Nashville SDP35 #1700 stands waiting to depart!
