  1. Adam - Thanks for the link to the sliding door variant. One down, one to go! PhilH - Thank you for bringing to my attention the large number of interesting wagons on the Mid Hants. When I get some free time, I feel a visit will be in order. Thanks also to everyone else for their input so far. Regards Dan
  2. Hi all As the title suggests, I'm wondering if any BR shock absorbing pallet vans made it into preservation and if so, where can I find an example for measuring and photographic purposes please? Here are a couple of examples from Paul Bartlett’s excellent photographic collection…. With hinged doors.... http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brpalshocvan/h119d9af8#h119d9af8 With sliding doors…. http://paulbartlett.zenfolio.com/brpalshocvan/h119d9af8#hfbf330b Regards Dan
  3. Those inserts make a big difference Brian, though I didn't know they even existed! Funnily enough, I'd thought about trying to do something similar to my MMP Mk1, when I get around to building it, which won't be for some time unfortunately.... Regards Dan
  4. That makes a lot of sense Brian - The light from LEDs often seems too harsh to me. What diameter are the bulbs, where do you get them from and do you have a reference number for them please? Regards Dan
  5. Thanks Brian. I fancy doing one myself at some point, so I'm looking forward to seeing yours under construction. Regards Dan
  6. Hi Brian Will your Peter Clark "Thumper" be taking its place on the workbench soon? Regards Dan
  7. Fair enough, but still a shame. Regards Dan
  8. That's a shame - I rather liked those concrete lamp posts! Regards Dan
  9. Dave Edit - Since typing this reply to your post, I've discovered some later posts addressing your observations, but rather than deleting my post, I thought I'd leave it in for you to take a look at the link I've included. The wagons you mention are two completely different diagram numbers. The commonest type with the deeper lip is the good old diagram 1/108 (welded construction), whilst the one with the thinner lip could well be a diagram 1/109, of rivetted construction, with pressed end doors. In the photo of the class 37 you refer to, it looks like the first two wagons are a diagram 1/108 and 1/109. In 7mm scale, Lionheart trains make both versions, as outlined here.... http://lionhearttrai...ge=models&mid=2 I'm a bit out of touch with 4mm scale, and though I know the 1/108 (welded) is available both as rtr and as a kit, it's possible that the 1/109 (rivetted), is available too. You mentioned Farish in your post, but I'm afraid I know even less about 2mm scale! Hope that helps Dan
  10. That looks excellent David. B) Laser cut I presume? Regards Dan
  11. Nice work David (and Paul). B) I reckon laser cutting - or etching - are definitely the best approach for buildings, if prototypical bonding patterns are required. To be honest, the correct bonding patterns have always been an obsession of mine and not having the skill or patience of Geoff Kent and frustrated by the shortcomings of embossed styrene, I've never really attempted many buildings in the past. However, I am working on some laser cutting artwork of my own for assorted 7mm scale projects as time permits, though I think it'll be a while before anybody sees the end results! Regards Dan
  12. I haven't a clue Jo - when it rolled into Westbury, I didn't even notice it was there! Regards Dan
  13. Nice shot Jo. I was the driver on 6M20 that day and had a Didcot driver road learning the B&H with me. I had the same loco the previous day too - I took it dead in train on 6O41 Westbury to Eastleigh (train loco 66058), then dumped the 66 in Eastleigh yard and drove 60074 back to Westbury on 6V41. Deep joy! B) Regards Dan
  14. Thanks for that Tony. I'm sorry for not responding to you sooner, but I'd totally forgotten I'd asked you the question. Four Conflats is enough to give a little variety and it's four more than I've got at the moment..... Regards Dan
  15. That looks pretty good to me Pugs - well done. Regards Dan
  16. Very nice work Tony. Being quite into wagons, I especially like the conflats & containers. I have an unfinished Slater's conflat & container knocking around somewhere, but to save me digging it out and looking in the box, do the shackles and chains come with the kits? Regards Dan
  17. Looking really good, but what's with the right hand drive? Regards Dan
  18. Looking good Rob - keep it up. Regards Dan
  19. That's a very clever way of doing the lamp irons Adrian - I'll have to remember that technique. Good luck with your bonus (and can I put a vote in for the pannier tank please? I quite fancy one myself and it would be nice to know what I'm letting myself in for.....). Regards Dan
  20. You can almost smell the oil and stale tobacco... Looking really good Pugs - keep it up! Regards Dan
  21. Hi Jon Any chance of some piccies of the cam sensor please? I have a sound chip knocking around and may well stick it inside the "Castle". Nice photos, by the way. Regards Dan
  22. Great work and great pictures Jon - well done. Regards Dan
  23. Left work at 03:20 - got home 06:00 (usually takes one hour). I'm sick of snow!

  24. Uh oh, you've done it now..... The majority of snow and ice may have gone, but it seems there's still a slippery slope near you..... Regards Dan
