  1. Ah, thanks for clarifying that, Tony; sorry if I made you feel hungry! Await to see what happens when we're all 'in the pink'!
  2. It's always full of unwell people! Enjoy the company but don't catch anything!
  3. Other side of what, one dares ask? If it's lunch then I'm there; it was on the outside, now it's on the other side!
  4. Yes!! OK, 4.5 volts across an 18 volt bulb isn't going to light the room but there is a faint glow!:icon_thumbsup2: CLearly only good as a Go - No Go indicator at this level:icon_lol:
  5. Of course, if meters cause a 'step back', then you could always use a little device from Trix: Part number 66623, track tester. Basically, it's a 18 volt bulb in a holder with two contacts at the base. Simply put the contacts across the rails - bulb lights = track live, no light = no power! Works on DC, AC and DCC systems and all gauges from 00/H0 to T! HTH BTW - it will only give a Go - No Go indication, of course, although from the brightness of the bulb, you could deduce things like poor connections.
  6. Morning all, although I haven't yet been to bed - just gotten back from a trainspotting run to Newport, South Wales! Only saw EWS 66089:angry:. Still, the boss is happy; the stuff I had to deliver there arrived safely! Several cars I noticed parked around Winchester (24hr Tesco comes in handy!) looked a bit 'condensed up' but didn't look solid. My outdoors thermometer is reading 9.5C just now and I can't see any big lumps of mishapen cheese or twinkly things in the sky meaning there must be oktas about so looks we're well lagged on top to keep the temperature up overnight! I'm off to bed soon, then we'll find out what the rest of today has in store. Ain't life full of surprises?
  7. We're even in the same county!! My source of temperature is, however, near Liphook in what is described as a 'frost pocket'! (He's got one of these computerised weather monitoring stations that takes readings every few minutes or so!)
  8. I had to scrape ice off the windscreen at 5:30 and a friend tells me that the lowest temperature round here was -2 at 7:20! Winter draws on!
  9. Also, according to Wikipedia, 9 oktas (yes, I know that means 9/8!) implies low lying cloud or swirling mist!!
  10. Last Sunday in October! But to where do they go back?
  11. Morning everybody, Still dark here too, but there's lots of twinkly things where the oktas are usually to be found, so I guess they haven't showed up this morning! Only 6C outside so winter's definitely on its way. If we're supposed to be in a period of global warming, why's it getting colder and wetter? (RHETORICAL question!!)
  12. Ouch - literally caught with his pants down!
  13. Thanks. The button to which you refer implies that I am watching (it says 'Stop watching...') but I'm still getting no notifications. OK so it doesn't want to talk to me - Good thing I'm already paranoid:lol: Think I'm getting the hang of this new-fangled IT (Infernal Technology!)
  14. Nor does it seem to generate update notifications by email!
  15. Thanks for clearing that up, Robert!
  16. Jam: just noticed your thought for the weekend in your sig. ("Thought for the weekend: 'Alot' is meant to be 'A lot'. ") reminds me that the french think that one egg is un oeuf for anyone! Coat being sought as you read this!
  17. even for this time on a monday, that makes sense! (esp. since I don't see anyone elses, as you state) Sure does; thanks, Jam. Sorry to hear you're still under the weather; just go easy on the parrots-et-em-all!
  18. Better get those smelling salts out, Graham. I've just finished for the day! Got down to Portchester to find nothing to deliver, so came back home and dropped the van in to have its wiring checked! (Dropped the earth on its glow plug relay last week!)
  19. Morning everybody: General lack of oktas this end of the A272 too. Try clicking on your user name to get to your profile. Just along from the 'About Me' tab is one for 'Your Posts'! HTH What I'd like to know is how to clear the 'Warn Status' icon below my avatar?
  20. Get down, Fido.:icon_wave: Put sections in anyway, then you have the option to go to DCC later!:icon_thumbsup2: Is 25cm long enough for your standard gauge locos?
