  1. Morning all , a wet one down here again , and none to warm either .

Tony , in all my years in the motor trade I found that most French cars respond well to a 'booting ' .

Bad end to the day for Williams at the Grand Prix , thankfully no one was badly hurt , it was great to see other teams

rushing to assist in what could have been a really serious fire .

Right then , list of things to do so better make a start .

  2. Morning all , back after a two day absence due to watching F1 practice and then other

things cropping up to make computer time a bit sparse .

Lovely day here at the moment , I even ventured out in shorts and no jumper .

Poor Lewis , he drives to perfection and again the team let him down , should be interesting

seeing him fight back from this needless disaster though .

  3. Metcalfe are excellent kits. Which one are you planning to construct?

Hi Don , I'm doing the sand drying building , my partner in the layout is doing the station and

platform buildings from the same range , his looks good so there is hope for me yet .

  4. Morning all , as far as my bleary eyes can tell it's not raining at the moment , nearly nine hours sleep and

I still feel washed out , that can't be right can it ?

Today I will attempt to do a Metcalf card building kit , should be fun , it will either look okay to go on the layout ,

or it will get demolished and recycled .

Right off to the shops , enjoy the day all .

  5. At New York's Kennedy airport today an individual was arrested, later determined to be a public school teacher, trying to board a flight while in possession of a ruler, a protractor, a slide rule, and a calculator. The Home Land Security believes the man is a member of the notorious Al-gebra movement. The man was being charged with carrying weapons of math instruction. "Al-gebra is a very fearsome movement, indeed", the Home Land Security reported. "They desire average solutions by means and extremes, and sometimes go off on a tangents in a search of absolute value. They consist of shadowy figures, with names like "x" and "y", and, although they are frequently referred to as "unknowns", we know they really belong to a common denominator and are part of the axis of medieval with coordinates in every country. "As the great Greek philanderer Isosceles used to say, there are three sides to every triangle." When the President was asked to comment on the arrest, he said, "If God had wanted us to have better weapons of math instruction, he would have given us more fingers and toes."

  6. Blonde wife texts her husband at work ............

"Windows at home frozen - what should I do?"

Husband - "spray some de-icer or pour hot water on them"

Wife a few minutes later -

"Done that - now computer won't work at all"!

  7. Morning all , it's a dull day with udecided cloudular activities , some look like they want to empty

water on you and others seem to be saying come out and play .

I've been looking at the ever growing list of things that ' need doing ' and I cant decide which should

take priority , dish washing looks good as I'm running out of plates to use , ought to get some laundary

in the machine too , I know , I'll have another cup of coffee while I decide .

    Cheers all .

  8. Sister Mary Ann, who worked for a home health agency, was out making her rounds visiting homebound patients when she ran out of gas.

As luck would have it, a Texaco Gasoline station was just a block away.

She walked to the station to borrow a gas can and buy some gas.

The attendant told her that the only gas can he owned had been loaned out, but she could wait until it was returned.

Since Sister Mary Ann was on the way to see a patient, she decided not to wait and walked back to her car.

She looked for something in her car that she could fill with gas and spotted the bedpan she was taking to the patient.

Always resourceful, Sister Mary Ann carried the bedpan to the station, filled it with gasoline, and carried the full bedpan back to her car.

As she was pouring the gas into her tank, two Baptists watched from across the street. One of them turned to the other and said,

'If it starts, I'm turning Catholic.'!!

  9. Good morning from a grey , wet and chilly south west , I pity the bank holiday visitors today , ( not ) ,

A quiet day I think , will definatley not be going far , shop for papers andthat will do .

Like Mick I feel a bit lethargic , but upwards and on .

  10. Good Morning , hazy sunshine at the moment as a change from the rain ,

very tuneful dogs you have there Gordon , and hairy to boot .

A trip to the local tip is one order of the day , then maybe some more work in the shed

this afternoon . Hope the sun stays out to make it warmer for working in .

    Enjoy yours folks .

  11. Good Morning from a rain free ( at the moment at least ) locality .

Spent several hours and far to much money at the Bristol show yesterday , a few very nice layouts and

the usual mix of okay ones . Some good trade meant the hand was in the pocket a little to often though .

I'll try to have a quiet day today I think , a quick trip to the shops and some shed time ought to do it .

Have a good one all .

  12. I've fallen in love...

Her name is Giulietta, she has a 60 plate, and comes in a beautiful cream colour.

Oh to have the money for an Alfa.

Don't get a cream one , the rust will show more easily , in fact , proably best not to buy an Alfa at all .

  13. Morning all , not raining at the moment , a quiet early morning preparing for a trip up

to Thornbury for an afternoon session at the Bristol exhibition , shopping list made

out in preparation . Veet is NOT on the list .

  14. Morning all , it's raining again .

Happy Birthday Stewart , I found that since I was entitled to free prescriptions I have had

nothing worse than a cold, so no medical saving for me . Bus and rail cards are a waste of

time here , none go to the places I am likely to want to go . Oh well such is life .

    Have a good one .

  15. Good moring all , and the news from the 'pits' here in Somerset is that it has stopped raining at last ,

there is a high level broken cloud base with ' hints ' of blue bits somewhere behind them . Looks like I'm

walking to the shop today instead of having to get the car out .

Have a good one all .

  16. Morning one and all , it's raining here again still , I'm glad it's only five steps to reach the shed or

    I would'nt bother .

I have sympathy for those with sleep problems , but can someone explain why I can get 8 or 9 hours

solid sleep every night and still feel like I'm dragging a lead filled me around . I just can't work it out , I

thought that once I was away from the daily grind of work I would feel fresh and energetic every day , but

it is'nt working out like that .

Oh well , enough moaning , off to find something to do , enjoy yours .

  17. Morning all ,

I did'nt make it here yesterday due to the early departure for the SWAG event and was to

tired when I got back home , As Mike said above a great day out and not to be missed if you

    can get there .

Well it's still raining down here in the SW and looks like it will be for while yet .

Today will be partly spent unpacking and sorting out the stuff that went to Taunton and back,

then try to find room to store the module and fiddle yard boards somewhere un

    till next year .

Ho hum , upwards and onwards , have a good one all .

  18. Mike, Did you know that I'm appearing at the SWAG show tomorrow? Not so much appearing as being there but not there, disembodied.

I can't access the previous page of this thread for some reason...I wonder if it is too long and we need to close it off and start "Early Risers 2"?

    Best, Pete.

Looking forward to see how you manage this Pete , web cam I guess !!! :paint:

  19. Morning all ,

another grey and grungy looking day here , not that I'll be going far , today will mostly be spent

checking and sorting out the bits to go to tomorrows SWAG meeting , I stupidly managed to volunteer

to build a fiddle yard for the module section of the event so I need to make sure it still works .

Hope all those with aches and pains dont suffer for much longer , there is nothing worse than the

non stop kind of ache , drags you down in no time as I found out many years ago when I ripped the

tendons in an ankle , I was hobbling for weeks and still got twinges for a few years if I spent to much

time in the wrong position while working .

    Enjoy the day .

  20. Morning all , cool , damp and grey in the far southwest today , not really looking forward to

the chill that will be in the shed but more work needs to be done .

Good news on the tooth front Debs , bad luck with the migraine though .

Gordon , you will have to tell us when it's due to air , we can all sit at home and cheer you on .

Hope Don has a slightly quieter day today , although I do enjoy watching a good thunder storm .

What ever you do today , enjoy .

  21.

Just back from the dentist: minus 2 molars (one top, one bottom) and with an almost comedically numb-face, following 7 jabs.......

My 'world of pain' should have ended......save for a day or two hence of jaw-discomfort.

Dont worry to much about a couple of missing teeth Debs , I've found that the older I get the less teeth

    I actually need .
