  1. Here is a longer video of the arcing on my Class 504 (I have deleted the original video on YouTube), I have changed the LED to a smaller brighter one and used the firebox flicker option on the Loksound v3.5 decoder instead of the strobe option on the original, and combined with setting the function to momentary you can get a variable length of arcing as seen on the video below. I will post a picture of the underside of the bogie later. Peter
  2. A couple of shots on Holcombe Brook & Tottington at MRX 2012.
  3. I have just uploaded a very short video of my Class 504 to YouTube after adding a LED to the front bogie to represent the 3rd rail arcing. I have deleted this video on YouTube and added a new one see new post below, The Class 504 is nearly complete, there are a few detailing items to finish off and I will replace the Bachmann glazing with Shawplan's Laserglaze when it is available. I have fitted sound using Digitrains EMU project with addtional Class 504 sounds, directional lighting, destination lighting and 3rd rail arcing. I will post some pictures over the next few days. Peter.

  5. Something new for Holcombe Brook & Tottington! Peter
  6. I have just noticed Zimo have a DB VT98 sound project as a free download, I will download it tomorrow add some BR sounds and I will do a quick video. Peter
  7. They were selling for £99.95 on the Lord & Butler stand next to the Heljan stand. Peter
  8. I have been having a play around with the interiors and I was thinking how could I replicate the moquette for the seat covering so I played around in Corel Draw and this is what i came up with this:- I would print it on paper and then apply to the seats. Peter
  9. Hi Ryan, Apoligies for not replying to your PM yet it has been a hectic week or so and I've just returned from setting up Rederring at a small exhibition tomorrow at Martin Mere Wildfowl Reserve. I have decided to scrap the original Replica conversion as I wasn't happy with the joins as a result of excessive filing to make it smooth, I am going to reuse the roof ends on the 2EPB roof on the next conversion. With regards to the cab windows, I am not sure that the DC Kits sides are totally accurate having studied lots of pictures, the DCKits look bigger than the actual 504 and the 2EPB side windows don't look too far out. If I decide they need converting I would modify the 2EPB by either filing or filling as I would risk weakening the strength of the body using the DCKits bits, also it would mean more filling and filing to hide the join! Been there done that got the t-shirt! LOL! Regards, Peter
  10. Another visit to the clubrooms so a chance to take a few pictures of the work so far. The cream lines were done using Peter Spoerer Easi-Liner pen recommended by Pete Harvey (thanks Pete!), I used it on the sides but the cabs were a little awkward so I masked these and spray painted the lines, there is still some tidying up to do. The roof are only placed on using some double sided sticky pads so look a little odd. I am thinking of redoing the roof using the 2EPB roof with the DC Kits front, I will probably make use of the bits from the original Replica Railways conversion as I am not happy with the joins when painted when put against the 2EPB version. Waiting at Tottington On the viaduct on it's way to Holcombe Brook Waiting for a return trip at Holcombe Brook Regards, Peter
  11. I will be using the latest beta version of 1.7 with my Lenz system to control Rederring at a Model Railway Exhibition at the Martin Mere Wildfowl & Wetland Centre near Burscough Lancashire on Saturday 21st & Sunday 22nd January, 0930 to 1700. Regards, Peter
  12. Tonight we started to move into our new larger clubrooms and this will mean I will be able to put up the Holcombe Brook and Tottington layout, I took the opportunity to take some pictures of the 2EPB Class 504 conversion on the viaduct section.
  13. Quite a lot of progress on the DC/2EPB conversion as can seen below. (The Roof is only temporarily fitted)
  14. And a lot easier! This is how I did the conversion. Using DC Kits cab sides I marked the cutting lines for the cab front. The marked side Original cab front removed The the sides cut The DC Kits cab front had to be modified Then fitted to the Bachmann shell The DC Kits roof was cut to size and then filed to create a grove so as to fit the same as the Bachmann roof Overall a fairly easy and quick conversion compared with the original DCK/RR version. Peter
  15. Thanks Ray and hopefuly it will! I'm hoping to have most of it done this week and I will be starting on the 3rd convesion. I intend to have the two motorised versions in BR Green one with small yellow panel, and if it turns out there was an earlier version of BR Blue the dummy version will be painted in that. Peterl
  16. And some of the Bachmann 2EPB conversion with the correct boggies.
  17. Here are a few shots of the DC Kits/Replica Railways Class 504 in undercoat. And the initial work on converting a Bachmann 2EPB using the DC Kits cab front and roof (only placed on)
  18. I came across this photo whilst doing a search on Google. It says it is in Early BR Blue livery. Does anyone know if it was a lighter version like electric blue? Peter
  19. Today I decided to give the Class 504 an undercoat so as to highlight any noticeable flaws. I then decided to try and fit a DC Kits cab front to a Bachmann 2EPB and to my surprise it was a nice easy conversion, the DC Kits roof can replace the Bachmann roof and it ends up being a fairly quick conversion. I have only done the trailer at the moment but I will convert the motor car tomorrow. I have taken some pictures but I can't upload them at the moment. I have decided I will not motorise the original 504 DC Kits/Replica Railways conversion and I will use it as a dummy unit to make the occasional 4 car set and the chassis will be used with it's original body which will also be converted to a 504. I will post pictures as soon as I am able. Regards, Peter
  20. Whoops! Something has gone wrong as I posted this to the 'Kitbuilding and Scratchbuilding' section but it has ended up in this section! Peter
  21. I decided to start work again on my Class 504, I had previously posted details of my Replica Railways/DC Kits Class 504 conversion on Mucky Ducks Workbench thread but I thought I would start a new thread showing the progress. As I have previously mentioned the last time I did something like this I was in my late teens, so over 30 years ago, when I converted a Dinky Northern Counties Fleetline to single door and modified it to represent the later GMT Standard with wrap round windscreen. So I have been relearning some long forgotten skills! This conversion uses the Replica Railways Suburban Coach with the DC Kits Cabs grafted on the front. I had thought of scrapping this conversion as I have made a few mistakes and start again, but I thought as I will have at least two 504 units on Holcombe Brook and Tottington I decided I won't waste the first conversion so I completely stripped off all the paint, re-joined the DC cabs to the body, and spent a lot of time refilling the joins. Though not perfect and the pictures show more things that need attention, hopefully with a little more work I think I will have a very passable model and hopefully the second unit will be easier learning from my experience of making this unit. Here is a selection of pictures of the work so far. I will post more as work progresses. Peter
  22. Today I seen a car 800 T, and someone in Mossley has MO 55 LEY and I think there is GL 05 SOP locally. I attended an auction to bid for BU 55 TOP but when it was got to silly money I stopped bidding, Peter
  23. Hi Bob, That's great and I look forward to meeting you, I'll probably be the one running around like a headless chicken! LOL! Depending how you are teavelling you could get the train from Bury and the free bus to the school, I've scheduled the bus to depart after the train leaves so people can watch it depart if they wish. Peter
  24. Hi Bob, I look forward to meeting you on the Saturday and I know Jens will be more than happy to talk to you about TouchCab. Even though my layout Rederring appeared last year at the show and I hadn't intended to bring it again we decided it will provide a good layout to demo TouchCab on as it has DCC Points and Semaphore Signals. It will be set up for use with both ESU ECoS and Lenz over the weekend so you will be more than welcome to have a play. TouchCab only works on either an iPhone or iPod Touch and not on an Android device. The iPhone 4S is relased next week so that sounds like perfect timing is your contract is up for renewal. I only use my iPhone as a backup prefering to use an iPod Touch as you don't get any phone calls interupting playing trains. There are new models of the iPod Touch coming out soon so you may be able to pick up a previous model at a lower price. Peter
  25. "Lenz users will be getting the opportunity soon" If you want to see the first public preview of TouchCab 1.7 supporting the Lenz system come along to the LYDCC Exhibition on Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th October and meet Jens the author. Full details on our website http://lydcc.org.uk/exhibition2011.html. Peter
