  1. "The clock tower is all that now remains of East Didsbury tram depot:" Parrs Wood Depot at East Didsbury was never a tram depot it was built as a bus depot.
  2. "Queens Road Bus Depot, Manchester. Also being used as a Bus Museum" Queens Road Bus Depot was the tram depot, in fact the first Electric tram depot for Manchester Copration Tramways. It is now owned by First. The Bus Museum was never a tram depot it was open as bus depot for the new motor buses, it is the venue for MRX on 17/18th May. Hyde Road Depot, now Stagecoach Manchester was a tram depot and later a trolleybus depot. Hyde Road Car Works still exists but I am not sure who owns it now, I think it may be the council. Oldham Depot, now First, was a tram depot.
  3. Hi Tony, I have done some photos of the installation on 1008 which I will make up into a step by step. I have ordered some small HiBass speakers from Digitrains which I think should fit in the bunker instead of the current Sugar Cube. I will wait and see how it fits before posting the photos.
  4. Only 1008 is fitted with a sound decoder with a project based recordings of the L&Y preserved locos done by a friend last month. I have just ordered some Zimo MX648's from Digitrains for fitting over Christmas, they have the same L&Y project to load on to decoders.
  5. A gathering of Radial Tanks on Tottington Viaduct!
  6. I couldn't resist temptation after visiting Arcadia yesterday and ended up buying all three versions! I think I may become addicted to this model! LOL! One thing that is different from the NRM 1008 is the buffers, which are moulded on 1008 but sprung metal ones on the other versions.
  7. DANGER SPEND ALERT! All three versions are now in at Arcadia!
  8. I have just talked to Tim at Arcadia in Shaw and he is expecting all three versions early this afternoon.
  9. All three are listed on the Bachmann website under the heading:- Branchline OO Scale Arrivals during last 30 days
  10. The NRM should consider a second run of this loco as it has proved so popular, all that restricting the number does if fuel those who want to make a quick buck on eBay. The NRM wants to raise funds, this loco could potentially help raise even more, if there is a demand surely isn't it common sense to supply it and the NRM cash in on it and not quick buck ebayers!
  11. My sound fitted loco will be on the Digitrains stand on Sunday at Warley if you want to hear it in the flesh metal plastic so to speak. The project will be available to buy on a Zimo sound decoder from them, it is not my project I was the beta tester for the friend who built it.

  13. Hi Larry, Unfortunately pickup is only on the 4 centre wheels.
  14. I fitted a Zimo MX648 Sound Decoder loaded with a new sound project based on preserved L&Y locos. Because of the restricted space in the bunker I had to remove the 6 pin decoder socket and hard wire the chip and use the small suger cube speaker, I have a couple of other ideas about speakers which I will try at a later date. Here is a short clip demonstrating the sounds. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aRN2SHaBBFs&feature=youtu.be

  16. Mine also arrived today and it is a great model. It will be fitted with sound later this evening after our club night and some photos on Tottington Viaduct on my layout, which I will post later.
  17. I ordered mine when it was first announced and it will make the occasional guest appearance on Holcombe Brook & Tottington with an enthusiasts special - in the model world alternative universe it could still be a runner!
  18. I couldn't resist picking one up yesterday from Hattons. I have just took it out to do a side by side comparison with my Hornby 4F and unfortunately the dome is very poorly fitted with a gap all round and a couple of small marks around the base as if someone was struggling to fit it, so I will be taking it back for a replacement. 20. One of the LYDCC members, Gordon Spencer, provided Hatton's with original drawings of the Garratt and they have been kind enough to let us preview the model at our small model railway show on 3rd/4th November in Bacup, Lancashire (Full Details are on the this thread) All being well it will be running on Holcombe Brook, so if you want to see it in the flesh (or should that be plastic) come along. Peter
  21. Here a few pictures taken on Tottington viaduct on the layout today at the club room. And some of the Driver Trailer. I am thinking of repainting the roof cream as the book about railways around Bury it says that they had a cream roof when delievered, then the next yellow panel version will have a grey roof. Peter
  22. I started working on a second unit tonight, which will also be in green but with yellow warining panels. I hope to have it ready for Holcombe Brook & Tottington appearing at Hornby Magazine Live at Hartlepool on 7th & 8th July. Peter
  23. Hi Ryan, Here is a picture of the the light unit under the bogie, I hope it helps. Peter
