  1. I think there are some quite interesting videos which gives the flavour of Gare du Bastille, there are some views of the track work and many of the station as well as showing the cramped nature of the site, www.dailymotion.com search Gare du Bastille
  2. My copy arrived yesterday and I've just started reading it, enjoyable and informative up to now although I have 3/4 still to read. It's a yes from me.
  3. I think it should also be Nettlebridge on the front cover not Nettleridge, thus being the second spelling mistake?
  4. Just logged in and there was a Deltic sitting there idling for a few minutes then off it went. brilliant.
  5. Tony, I have posted a few times but mainly I view Wright writes as a source of inspiration, the modelling is first class and has made me want to continue with my own efforts when I lacked the will to do so, I find the enthusiasm is infectious. It would be a pity to stop the thread as I enjoy it a great deal, as others have said it is an area of (mainly) calm discussion with modellers who know their stuff. I will never have the space or time to build anything like your LB but the updates and photos of the layout and stock are brilliant, so from me keep up the good work.
  6. It does show how the normal everyday locomotives were much dirtier than most of us seem to have replicated on our own layouts, and how the overall colours in the scenes are so muted, no shiny whites or bright paint colours. Very interesting snapshot of an interesting period, thanks for pointing it out as it gives a good insight.
  7. Semaphore signals have existed in very busy locations until very recently, the nearest railway to me only had them replaced with colour lights late 2015 so they are not quite the distant memory that you seem to think. They featured in many of the magazines devoted to contemporary railways so they were widely known about as did other sections of the railway which were updated in the last few years.
  8. Slightly more dramatic than the 66! Thanks for posting.
  9. It really is a great layout that has evolved over a long period, I can remember going on a club night with a chap called Roy Jackson when his model of Gainsborough Central was under construction, many more years ago than I care to remember. I think you must have been lucky with your visit Rich as the last time I went it was absolutely heaving it was completely full of people. Anyway good to see some exposure and I do agree that their website could do with being a bit more informative.

    Dapol 08

Yes, I ordered one, as I understand it it was supposed to be 08529 but Dapol changed it to D3045 between announcement and delivery. Modellers Mecca web site had the original details but the actual model is D3045. Mine is in the post and it was confirmed as D3045 so I think that is what you should be getting.
  11. The stars in the cars is now Evans talk show and its getting on for 1/4 of the show, so much for keeping Evans in the background!
  12. Got 'em all from new at publication, they are good books but I didn't realise they went for so much! Not that I want to sell, I am surprised that they haven't been reprinted. Michael
  13. What's on your mind?
