  1. Very much looking forward to getting back to Caistor this year. I'll be helping operate Wolds Way on both days.
  2. Top speed isn't just governed by engine power is it. It's all those wings and downforce generating elements that also slow a car down. Therefore, all Merc could have done is developed their aero package to make it more 'slippery'. McLaren have Merc engines and they seem to have had good top speed for a long time. Often giving Merc a run for their money!
  3. Walking barriers at shows are pretty normal I find. It just depends on the type of barriers and what state they are in. I exhibited at the last GETS before covid and can confim the barriers moved then too. One thing I noted on my visit to this years show on Sunday was the guys walking round with big tubs of wipes ensuring the barriers were sanitised.
  4. Well McLaren have been saying they didn't tell Lando that heavy rain was coming. Also that they are going to look into why as it sounds more like their interpretation of the weather data which was incorrect. Lewis meanwhile was told that the rain was going to get harder. Hence why he listened to the team and pitted.
  5. We think the fact Flying Scotsman was putting in an appearance affected Saturday afternoons attendance. It was busier in the morning then it often cab be. I'm looking forward to seeing the visitor number comparisons to previous years when the Treasurer has done his maths! We aim to break even on our show. We're a little club with a little village hall show and enjoy the freindly atmosphere. We'll be back next year on the last weekend in September at Stickney Village Hall
  6. Setup for the show has gone well this evening with 4 layouts to set up tomorrow morning. If you are heading out Skegness way to view the Steam Railtour tomorrow, why not pop by Stickney? We're a small village hall show and would love to see you. For Covid, we'll be having all the doors and windows open for extra circulation and there will be a seating area outside the hall. Hand Sanitiser will be available on entry and all areas where contact could be made. We will also be ensuring all regular 'touch surfaces' are cleaned regularly. We are following government guidance on masks and social distancing. To aid the latter, a One Way system will be in place.
  7. Yes, thank you for the very informative replies on this. I mentioned previously that I was worried. I'm not now as you've put my mind at rest. A suggestion, maybe include some instructions of what detail to remove from the model to achieve running around 2nd Radius? Obviously you won't know for certain what that needs to be until you've had some samples from the factory and done some testing.
  8. A shameless bump here as the show is this weekend. I hope to get an update from the Exhibition Manager at our club night this Thursday Evening.
  9. Excellent clarification here, thank you.
  10. Yeah, another plea for you to ensure that this is able to traverse 2nd Radius curves from me. I cancelled a pre-order for the upcoming blue Hornby example and pre-ordered this one. Now I'm worried I could have made a mistake! I really hope not because your version looks epic. I think you are going to severely restrict the number of people able to accommodate the loco if it can't go round 2nd Radius.
  11. In a weeks time we'll be one sleep away from doors open. Sadly, Caistor Loco will no longer be attending. We are trying to find a replacement but this may not be possible.
  12. They might be sold out now but that doesn't mean their success in doing so doesn't prompt Hornby to do another run of them.
  13. https://youtu.be/c21mcgGjbqU The Official F1 YouTube channel has released 360° footage of the Lewis and Max crash. You can click and pan the image around yourself. Reference was made to Lewis trying to reverse his car out from under Max. However, Max also had a try at driving off too despite his nose being basically buried in the gravel. In honesty, I'm not sure what to think of that as he had no idea where his rear wheels were. He could have had one stuck on Lewis's cockpit for all he knew. Then again, they are both racers and both will have wanted to be able to continue.
  14. I don't think you can fairly assess the running of a sample locomotive. Possibly when they first come from the factory but they then have a rough life being handled and scrutinised. A full assessment can't be made until the actual models arrive and I'm sure they will be up to Bachmann's normal high standards of running.
  15. A half open door is still half closed. If anything it shows that Lewis is thinking about his opponent and trying to avoid contact rather than not caring about his own car. Another instance of greater experience being at play. You don't want to be knocking off bits of carbon fibre if you can avoid doing so.
  16. Then he got it out of his system before he entered the 'big boys' world of F1. Max meanwhile has been thrown in at the deep end and has none of the fairness about him that Lewis has developed.
  17. Oh man, I completely forgot about George after the safety car period. The battle at the front and the 'will they won't they' with McLaren completely distracted me! After checking I'm glad he finished in the points again. Does show that Williams have made a step forward which I'm glad about. I do hope that goes forward to next year.
  18. Personally I do feel that Max was at fault for the collision here. Max's arguments that Lewis should have left space are voided by his own driving when the roles were reversed on the first lap. In that incident, Lewis took avoiding action to ensure he avoided a major collision. Max could have easily done the same here. Even if he cut the chicane, Max could have gotten himself into a position for the next one and as he said 'kept racing'. I think the major difference between this and the Silverstone incident is the fact the roles have been reversed in a similar situation and the result was different. At Silverstone I felt both could have avoided the collision. Here, Lewis just did the same that Max has done to him before. Clearly if Max wants a bit of track he's not afraid of running into you to get it.
  19. Personally I found this video explains it pretty well: The only complication this time is Bottas having a penalty for the race tomorrow. That's being applied exactly the same if it was a normal weekend.
  20. The Boston Model Railway Society is planning to go ahead with our show at the end of the month. Taking place at Stickney Village Hall (PE22 8BG) which is 7 miles north of Boston on the A16. The opening times are: Saturday 25th September - 10am to 5pm Sunday 26th September - 10am to 4 pm Admission: Adults - £3 Children - £1 Family (2+3) - £7 Layouts: 0-16.5 Salthaven by Steve Cooper EM Woodcroft by Market Deeping MRC OO Sykes Lane by Sleaford MRC Gracetown Bank by Graham Morfoot Tremawn by John Cotton Holland Beck by Ben Adlington Boghampton by Tony Forward Breydon by Ken Bannister N Chillington by Spalding MRC Traders: Elanie's Trains We are hoping to be able to serve Light Refreshments including an outside seating area but this is Weather Permitting. Similarly, we hope to hold a 'covid safe' Tombola and Raffle. There will be a One Way System in the Hall and all windows and doors will be open to provide additional circulation. Further Covid precautions are being investigated. http://bostonmrs.50webs.org/Exhibitions.html
  21. Perez has already been confirmed for RB in 2022. I don't think there are that may vacant seats left now.
  22. https://dirtfish.com/rally/wrc/raikkonen-doesnt-want-schedule-like-wrc-after-f1-exit/ Interesting to hear that Kimi thinks winning the WRC Championship would mean more to him than winning the F1 Championship. Sounds like he won't be making a full rallying return though.
  23. https://www.keymodelworld.com/article/great-electric-train-show-visitor-information Looks like entry times are like a pre-covid show. Also looks like you can pay on the door.
  24. Personally the rule about two laps needing to be completed before points can be awarded needs amending. It needs to be 'At least two laps completed under Green Flag conditions'. The laps under the Safety Car would then still count towards the overall race distance but it would stop points from being awarded if there is no actual racing completed. Having read more about the decision making, it sounds like there was a hopeful window that some of the race could be completed. The cars were therefore sent out to assess the conditions. I've heard it mentioned before that nothing dries a track faster than 20 F1 cars going around it, even under Safety Car conditions. Therefore, my personal opinion is that sending the cars out was the correct call. Then they can see the true conditions from the onboards and nobody can be upset that F1 didn't 'have a go' or 'didn't try'. However, I do agree that awarding half points for it is wrong, that rule needs looking at.
