  1. Hi,

Plenty here to interest me  :senile:

I'm confident Ben and Mike will already have considered this when deciding to so mightily " increase the ambition and scale of our operations"   so I do hope that there will be reasonable gaps when it comes to requesting funds* for each project that meets the 'numbers required' criteria, I'd hate to register an interest and then find payments are squeezed into a limited window.  Although the VEA van is non-crowdfunded they're still going to significantly deplete the modest fortune at my disposal when available so hope their release is taken into account in that respect... Already started a new savings regime in anticipation.

    Regards, Gerry.

  2. Hi Dave,

    Hi everyone,

At last a reduced price quote from China for the less than full fat APT.

Please remember this is for a plain interior, no Tilt, no interior lighting, no through wiring (so will need 3 decoders i'm afraid) etc (it does and will have directional lighting and DCCsound capable)

    Hi everyone,

'Expressions of Interest' continue to come i, but to whet your whistle a bit, here are the 2nd APT renderings from the Laser scanning.

    post-1144-0-48872400-1535894348_thumb.jp

This will, i hope, give you something to look forward to in N gauge. (and yes the second car has a side missing, and we don't know why, but it is on the STP file so we arent too worried.

    cheers

    Dave

I may have missed it but your 'no frills' post doesn't mention either way the raised nose option for N (I didn't need those mentioned), is the superb looking CAD image(s) relevant to both scales or has it been 'de-frilled' from the N version?

    Regards, Gerry.

  3. Hi,

Dapol have asked on their digest forum whether the Class 73/9s would sell, but I don't know what the outcome was.

No plans currently i'm afraid. I do agree the prototype is becoming more recitative to model, so something for the future perhaps.

I'm not sure how the word 'recitative' applies, maybe Joel's autocorrect decided the word 'attractive' was too vanilla  :jester:

  4. Hi,

First impression is of blocky appearance, perhaps due to poor image quality.  I'll look forward to NGS Journal/ monthly mags reviews, hopefully with better pictures.  If I can get to the Warley show this year I'll certainly want to stop off at their stand to see for myself.

Inevitable comparison with CR Signals would, for now, leave me sourcing from the established supplier but I'm not in a rush just yet.

    Regards, Gerry.

  5. Hi,

I'm not aware of any significant problem with the N Brighton Belle, reading instructions for many can still be a last resort...

The simple answer to the Arnold/Hornby N Brighton Belle packaging was that it was sold as the 5-car pack in the UK - Model Rail quoted SK "...nothing to do with Margate", you could buy the separate packs in Europe, DM-Toys had remaining stocks of the driving cars for quite a while.

    Regards, Gerry.

  6. Hi,

They only mentioned EWS although they said there was a possibility that they may run Freightliner.

Loads of VTG wagons for sale on ebay last week, I think I counted 30 in different colours

    Best,
    Chris

When Mike was speculating on reruns early last year he did mention opening "expressions of interest", I took that to mean alternative liveries and their reaching sufficient levels as originally.  I doubt RevolutioN would suddenly commit to numbers without the usual prudent process.

They've been incredibly busy with completing projects and initiating new ones so it's unsurprising that they haven't revisited the N TEAs - just yet...

  7. Hi,

I see Gaugemaster have pre-production livery samples now:

    http://www.gaugemaster.com/news/Sneak-Peek-of-Gaugemaster-Collection-Class-66s

and inviting comment on these, still due for release November 2018.

Additional - larger low-res images also on the Dapol Digest:

  8. Hi,

I continue trying to work on my N gauge layout and this topic reminded me of having seen the SMALL SCALE, BIG SOUND article in Model Rail 168/Spring 2012, the notion of adding this form of sound more than the other aspects of DCC to the layout appealed given my perceived limitations in the on-board quality of sound in the scale even with more recent improved products, the space available just doesn't allow the sound I hope for.

I had a look at the website which includes the description and a video, then emailed a couple of queries to Paul Lawton who very kindly responded in timely fashion with reassurances regarding those uncertainties.

I've only run a small test track with a single loco at a time, further testing will continue when I am able.

    Regards, Gerry.

  9. Hi,

Posted on the Dapol website on Thursday:

    https://www.Dapol.co.uk/New-in-stock-and-going-our-to-stockists-now

...and confirmed by Hattons email yesterday as on their way to me:

Dapol 2P-012-055 Maunsell brake third 3214 in SR green

Dapol 2P-012-056 Maunsell brake third 3215 in SR green

Dapol 2P-012-075 Maunsell brake composite 6365 in SR green

Dapol 2P-012-253 Pack of three Maunsell coaches - Set 394 - brake third, compartment third and compartment third in SR olive green

There is a query on the Dapol Digest about the number 6365 quoted by Hattons - 6565 on the Dapol information linked to above, but as anyone who has read any of my comments on here may have gathered:

...because I'm a mere child in such matters and have no idea...

Anyhoo, I'll post one of my customery almost passabe snapshots when they arrive, Monday-ish...

    Regards, Gerry.

  10. Hi,

In reply to the question on the Dapol Digest from last week https://digest.Dapol.co.uk/forum/n-gauge-models/class-142/5499-class-142-decorated-samples/page2

Yes, we had some technical issues and had to withdraw from the production slot. These are now scheduled for production imminently and should be in production very soon. Our apologies for the delay

    Regards, Gerry.

  11. Hi,

I quite fancy at least one of those N Scale Dash 8-40CM. Does anyone know do any UK based retailers who are taking orders for them?

Rails of sheffield do have some Rapidi items in their site but not these. I have emailed them a week ago but as yet no reply.

My previous experience with RoS is that although they didn't reply to either of my emails the second run of GMD-1s and the Turbo Trains did turn up on their website for pre-orders within a couple of weeks for each, this may well turn out the same with your email.

I had my two GMD-1s from the first batch directly from Rapido Trains without any difficulty, shipping wasn't overly expensive, and they ran very sweetly straight out of the box.

In newsletter 101 there's the statement:

One of the reasons for my trip to the UK is to set up our new British limited company. This will allow us to produce our own models that are Rapido branded and handle our own distribution from within the UK. It also means we get to pay income taxes in two countries instead of one!

Hang on a minute - that's probably not such a good thing...

So I would expect an easing of placing pre-orders in the UK whenever that is up and running.

    Regards, Gerry.
