  1. Thanks for the pictures and the link to the Youtube video. That's a great tutorial. I must give it a try.
  2. Great photos again Peter. Pic of the week contenders I think! Dave
  3. Hi Leon You've been making good progress since I last checked in on you. (Strangely my "watch topic" doesn't tell me about your updates!) It's looking so realistic. Great work mate. Dave
  4. What a cracking layout. I have just read a few pages during my lunch break, but have bookmarked it to read it all later. The weathering, the layout & the scenery all look so realistic. Congratulations! Dave
  5. I seem to be experiencing a similar problem with 1 of my 3 Bachmann 66's. Spent 2 hours in the loft last night trying out my new inclines and getting very frustrated. I then tried 2 different 66 locos and found they were all along. It was only the 1 loco that has a problem. The plastic clip on bogie appears to foul on the chassis when it turns. The wheel also seem to be catching on the chassis when turning (I know this as there are grooves appearing on the chassis). Any ideas how to solve this or has anybody else seen the same problems?
  6. Great pics Leom and I see you made "pic of the week". Congrats! Dave
  7. Looking great Leon. Did you read the article in Hornby mag about airbrushing? It mentioned an alternative method to compressors or cans was to use an old tyre / inner tube. You inflate it up to pressure then fit a connector that releases the pressure via the airbrush. When it runs down you just inflate the tyre again! Sounds like a cheap option. Dave
  8. Hi Leon Your layout is looking awesome. You are making great progress. I really must get my backside in gear and crack on, but I don't think I will make it to your standard! Keep up the good work Dave
  9. I think those platforms look awesome! It's great to see something different to the usual "old fashioned" platforms that most of us model. Great work. Dave
  10. That sounds like a great idea and one that wouldn't be too diificult for John to create I guess.
  11. Having read most of the posts in this new Scalescenes area of the forum, it is obvious that several people have their own ideas about what kits they would like to see John create next. Therefore, and with the kind permission of John, I thought we could get these ideas into one place. I'll start the ball rolling! I would love to see some modern industrial units (along the lines of the Bachmann 44-049) as I would like to place 3 or 4 of these together to form an industrial estate on Chadwood but I certainly won't be paying £25-£30 each for them! Having seen how many modern layouts there are on here, I am sure they would be quite a popular download. I have thought about scratchbuilding some, maybe even using John's low relief warehouses at each end to give me a start, but I don't really think I have the necessary skills. Anyway, what would you like to see next? Dave
  12. I spotted on of those pesky seagulls during my trip to Aberdeen Kirkhill:
  13. Good luck for tomorrow guys. Hope you have a great weekend and very few problems. Dave
  14. Can't wait to see the layout again next week. It's changed so much since I saw it October at Mickleover. Hopefully I'll remember the camera for a few shots if you don't mind? Dave
  15. Thanks for the info. Unfortunately their website seems to be down at the moment, but I keep an eye out for them.
  16. Graham & Glenn The layout's looking great. I saw it at Mickleover last year and will see it again at Derby in May. It will be interesting to see the changes. Your fuelling area looks great. What have you used to create the striplights? Are they scratch built or off the shelf? Dave
  17. What an awesome layout! I especially love the beach scene, with the paths leading down from the tracks above. Reminds me of a few holidays I have done in Cornwall. Great to see a layout with a real mix of eras running on it too, and none of them look out of place. Truly inspiring. Many thanks for sharing it. Dave
  18. Your kidding me ??? They look great. They have a real corrugated look to them, that's why I thought that they are maybe plasticard or something. I'll have to be on the look out for For Sale signs now. lol
  19. Gordon I've just added your layout to my watch list. It's truly inspirational! Thanks for the "step-by-step" guide to you way of ballasting. I may well give that a go when I'm ready. Dave
  20. Hi Leon Your layout is coming along great. Love the industrial units. What are they made from? Embossed Plasticard? Whatever colour you paint them I'm sure they will look great, although I can't help but think they look a bit B&Q-ish so maybe orange? The detailing you have added like the CCTV cameras really improves the overall look of the place. Great job mate, Dave
  21. Great looking layout. My 8 year old lad would love me to put a football pitch on my layout, I'm sure. Can't wait for the 500 chinese spectators to arrive! lol I think you have the same bus as me, the Trent Barton 92 to Derby? I also have the matching return bus to Ripley. Keep up the good work. Dave
  22. Your layout is looking great Stuart, especially the red ballast. I may need some tips on the gradients you have created. I must have a full read of your thread again. Dave
  23. Great looking layout. Do you have a trackplan or a photo of the whole layout?
