I know what you mean. The tiny culvert on Outon Road is so small I wasn't about to splash out on a load of resin to do whats in effect a puddle. I tried PVA and it pretty much all just vanished, I tried humbrol gloss varnish which did the same. The only success I've had is with some clear nail varnish that I borrowed off the missus. I could lay quite a deep puddle and it dried crystal clear with quite a lot of volume remaining!! I would recommend it if you are doing small areas of shallow water. You'd need quite few bottles for a river though!! Cav

  11. I see your point of view but I'm not saying make it a kit, I'm saying lets have models that we can make into as many different locos as we want in the easiest way possible. If they came un-numbered/logo'd (which brings up another point, why we don't get etched arrows and names etc in RTR boxes for loco's that need 'em really bugs me too (I know some are added but not many), at the price they charge for a loco I think etched stuff should come as standard and why the hell we get printed names on locos etc when they do include the etch baffles me even more!! Still thats another argument) and with a few various parts seperate then we would negate having to strip numbers off or change details that are factory fitted to get something that 1001 other layouts hasn't got running around. Plus I think the child in a sweet shop feeling fades quicker if it comes straight out of the box onto the track. When you have to work at it a little bit the loco/stock/building steals a place in your heart. Cav
  12. Here here Andi. I reckon they should supply all the bits in a bag with no numbers on at all so you can choose exactly which loco you want to model and what details it needs!!

  17. I like to play with Trainz. I picked up a full 2006 edition a couple of years back. It's not very good if you do the cab driver thing but as virtual model railway its the bee's!! Also there is a lot of community support and created items to add on. You can even make your own stock if you have the gumption!! Also pretty handy to try out track plans and stuff for real model railway!!
