I see your point of view but I'm not saying make it a kit, I'm saying lets have models that we can make into as many different locos as we want in the easiest way possible. If they came un-numbered/logo'd (which brings up another point, why we don't get etched arrows and names etc in RTR boxes for loco's that need 'em really bugs me too (I know some are added but not many), at the price they charge for a loco I think etched stuff should come as standard and why the hell we get printed names on locos etc when they do include the etch baffles me even more!! Still thats another argument) and with a few various parts seperate then we would negate having to strip numbers off or change details that are factory fitted to get something that 1001 other layouts hasn't got running around.
Plus I think the child in a sweet shop feeling fades quicker if it comes straight out of the box onto the track. When you have to work at it a little bit the loco/stock/building steals a place in your heart.
