  1. Not really much of an update.

Still doing my research, and trying to find best source for tree's and scenery bit's and bobs.

I've put a few loco's threw their paces on every section of track. No failures so far, only another hour or so of testing. And that will be my 4hrs of running test done.

I may tackle a little section of ballasting once I have found a suitable colour to match the pictures I have seen.

I know that it's not a true set up of a Euston to Scotland sleeper service. Just keeping an eye out for a MK2 RFB, and maybe a couple more TSO'S.

I like the dead end fiddle yard roads, good way to use that dead space in the middle. May have to steal that idea, ideal for MUs.

A friend suggested it too me. It works really well with me using the curved point's at each end. So pretty much anything can be routed to those road's if needed 👍

  3. Well had a busy weekend, visited Ivanhoe model railway club show yesterday and managed to pickup the final 4 points needed to complete the fiddle yard.

Today I had a few hours free. So got on & fitted the points to the fan section of the fiddle yard.

Also fitted the feeds to the layout.

Benjamin, Go on, you know you want to....

Phil,  I like the concept, just wondering if you considered going the other side of the Bleakhall - MK Bowl bridge, and doing the section to the Chaffron Way bridge which would include the start of Denbigh Hall North Junction, thus having some of the ladder junction in the scenic section?

As for that Google image, when was it taken? There's no traffic on Standing Way which isn't prototypical these days.....

    Davexoc,

Too been honest I looked at various sections of the WCML from Wolverton down to the lakes estate.  It wasn't until I was stuck in traffic funny enough on standing way. I looked over and spotted this bit, on my way to work.

As for the traffic in the Google maps picture. That is odd, as its always busy.  The workshop doors are open where I work. So definitely a work day. Unless they had that section closed for road work's at the time.

Looking forward to seeing this layout progress,

The quality of n gauge now makes me think I should swap gauges. What size is the layout?

Less is more and this is going to nail that concept. Excellent start what shall be a great project.

    Hi Benjamin.

    Thanks for your comment.

The layout is 8ft by 3ft

    So I roughly have the scenic size of 6ft X 1ft 6"

  6. Not much of an update,

I have been doing my research, and watched various You tube cab rides of various areas. Over and over to get everything planned and get my shopping list updated.

After talking to David about his 2  brilliant layouts, North End Road and Maids Morton. Both Based on the WCML. I worked out that 6, 4 track ohl mast's will be need. So my order with N brass was placed and I now have the masts and register arms.

Took a bit of a gamble and purchased a raised lineside relay platform with boxes. Just to see how it would look.

Obviously it will be sat higher up inside the embankment. But you get the basic Idea.

The fiddle yard is almost complete, just 4 more sets of points to order to get the track work completed.

Then the fun and games of adding feed's and isolation sections can begin.

    Thanks for looking.

    Phil.

Based on the WCML. So it could be pretty much anywhere north of the capital.

    Thanks for looking.

Who remembers Rayzell's nightclub upstairs in the Brunel Centre? Probably best forgotten TBH...

And didn't the wrestler Johnny Kincaid run a pub or two in the town?

Back on topic, I stopped by Swanbourne station and Whaddon Road (Mursley) to see what is going on. Lots of rolls of membrane in the Swanbourne compound, being laid out heading west for the down line, view looking through the gates on the closed bridleway, taken with full zoom on the phone, so a bit blurry.

View from the Mursley bridge looking west, membrane with rails, but no sleepers as yet. The compound here is virtually empty.

You are not the only one. I've not been asked for the balance for my NSE (or silverlink) ones either if it helps. Looking forward to them.

What you are planning for your unbranded version Porkie? I was watching the cracking YouTube videos you sent me a link to a while back and it jogged my memory back to the plane white 'make the link' livery (link to a photo below). Wish I had remembered this livery during the pre order stage, would be a very unique model without too much effort (assuming someone was willing to provide the transfers).

    David,

I was planning on keeping it unbranded. I've seen a few videos over the years. Even up as far as Crewe. Although I think they were on test at the time.
