  7. Now your delving into that last 20%, its certainty getting rather more difficult. Firstly some errors in you list, D8513 was GSY on withdrawl, D8514 was GFY on withdrawl, D8571 was GSY on withdrawl. Now going by photos i have and the numbers are legible, the following locos carried GSY livery at the end, D8509 D8537 D8604 D8611 As for the rest of the list, the following are reported as withdrawn in the following liveries, but i haven't seen any photographic proof, so best to take with a pinch of salt until someone comes up with the evidence D8501 BFY ?? D8506 GFY ?? D8517 GSY (probably) D8518 GSY (probably) D8533 GSY (probably) D8544 GSY (probably) D8547 GSY (probably) D8553 reported as GSY & BFY D8555 GSY (probably) D8569 GSY (probably) D8575 GSY (probably) D8578 GSY (probably) D8581 GFY ?? D8589 GFY (probably) D8594 GFY (but i believe it may of gone in GSY) D8596 GFY ?? D8599 GSY (probably) D8602 GFY ?? D8603 GSY (probably) D8609 GSY (probably) As i say the last section are only probables, but i hope it helps. Trevor
  8. Nice work Eddie, This is the only building I need to build on my WHL layout and their's a gaping 2ft space of platform area awaiting me to pluck the courage up to start. I plan to build the one based on Ian Futer's plans, of Ardlui from Railway Modeler i think, but the windows have been the one thing holding me back. I know what you mean about the shingles, my plan was to do them as plain plasticard as in 4mm scale, i feel it would be something only noticed under close scrutiny. Let us know if you have any luck with etching the windows and doors, something I'd be interested in. Trevor.

The other end was the standard small yellow panel at this time.
  12. Hi Stephen, No afraid D63xx's didn't get that deep into Wales and for that reason alone I'd probably go for a South West location. As I'm sure an O gauge model of a D63xx is going to appear at sometime, can it really be ignored, for its size is perfect for 7mm modelling. Have you thought of perhaps somewhere on the Torrington line with its china clays, or are you looking more at doing a dairy location. Trevor.
  13. No problem, Did you see the link to the Middleton Press book I added later, on the Aberystwyth to Camarthen line, which includes Aberaeron and Newcastle Emlyn. Only came across it after and haven't seen it myself, but I feel a purchase coming my way.

  15. I know what you mean, I use to spend quite a lot of time in the area, not everyones cup of tea but I always enjoyed it. If you have an interest, "The Lampeter, Aberayron and New Quay Light Railway" by Oakwood Press no. 191. http://www.amazon.co...s/dp/0853617147 It's one of their soft cover books, but has all the history of the line, good selection of photos including Felin Fach , with a selection of maps and schematic track plans. Very readable book as my well thumbed copy over the years is now showing. And another from Middleton Press. http://www.amazon.co...e/dp/1906008906
  16. It would be in GSY, it carried this livery to the end. D7003 in GSY was also seen at Hemyock on 9th Nov 1971. Another shot of class 03's at Tiverton Jct on Roberts excellent site. http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertcwp/2170153912/in/photostream/ D2133 would later be sold in 1969 to "British Cellophane" in Bridgewater.
  17. Hi, I must admit to the pictures of the milk tanks and D63xx's are actually from when i dabbled in "Gauge One" a few years back, so not truly 7mm but the kit was identical and I thought I'd post them, to show with a bit of work what variations were possible, even the 2000 gallon version started life as a 3000 gallon tank. The plates are available in 7mm and G1 from Slaters in "Express Dairy" and "United Dairies", other variations of plate not done by Slaters are "United Dairies (W) Ltd" and also the Unigate Creameries carried the wagon number on the plate without the regional prefix letter, for example "Unigate Creameries Ltd 44510", hope this helps. If you can pull yourself away from Hemyock, I know its not easy! The West Wales area of Aberaeron, Lampeter & Newcastle Emlyn can be a very interesting area to model with it mixed trains. Also as added bonus, the 74xx pannier ran the line right up to their demise in 1964. Morfa Mawr in 4mm, my representation of West Wales.
  18. As Paul mentions, the best available ones were used during the period your looking at. So you ended up with LMS, GWR, LNER, SR and BR variants. Probably the most common one on the Western region after the BR variants, was probably the LMS variants. It is good if you can work from actual photos as their were several chassis and tank changes, along with other modifications over time, including the lagging over the top of the straps, which can be represented with plasticard. Liveries were mostly cleanish or more likely grimy silver for the period your looking at, with either "Express Dairiy", "United Dairies", or "Unigate Creameries" plates fitted, some also didn't have plates. The earliest photo I have seen of the "St Ivel" livery is 1970 although it may of come in the year before. There was also the odd wagons still in early liveries going around in 1970, including royal blue "Express dairy" and pale blue "MMB", one was painted up in red livery circa 1969/70, I don't know much about this apart from seeing it on some video footage and a distant photo of it entering Exeter St Davids, but it could well be the one on Paul Bartlett's site. I don't know how many you plan to build, but for the period you're doing, the majority would be BR, along with some LMS variants (which could definitely include a LMS 2000 gallon version), then perhaps a GWR, LNER or SR to add too. Although not my cup of tea, at least one GWR twin tank was still working out of South Wales in 1970. This company do other variants of the milk tank in 7mm, http://www.powsides.co.uk/ including BR ones. And some I did a few years ago using the Slaters LMS 3000 gallon tank.
  19. Lovely work Pix, so inspiring! When I see work like that, its makes me wish I was still modelling the 2mm.
