  1. Alan, Thanks for pointing out those lugs. Once I'd separated the boiler from the running plate, the lugs were quite visible and I didn't need to resort to the saw. One lug was unfixed and the second had a thin trickle of adhesive holding it in place. Some gentle levering of the cab sheet with a jeweller's screwdriver and it too was free. It was then a simple matter of sliding the cab off the boiler as you've described, fortunately without any damage. I'm not surprised about the handrails. Fortunately I've plenty of Alan Gibson scale replacements in stock! Andy
  2. Alan, I (and I'm sure many others) would be very interested in some more details about this. I took the body off a Bachmann Jubilee last night and the sectional construction of the body makes it seem quite feasible. Any techniques for releasing certain parts (e.g. cab from firebox etc.) without resorting to the razor saw? Thanks, Andy
  3. Didn't really need another Jubilee or another Black 5.

The question "how does he do it?" springs to mind. Superb.

There can only be one explanation. He's cloned himself!

  7. Michael, Do you have any more information on the Fowler tank overlays you were displaying at Scaleforum? Thanks, Andy
  8. has spent rather a lot at Scaleforum today. Again.

  9. When Lime Street was exhibited at Aylesbury a couple of years ago, Mike Delamar of this parish allowed me a peek under the layout's skirts to marvel at the quality of the wiring job. Steve's photos just highlight that what's underneath the layout, is just as much a work of art as what's on top. Magnificent! Andy
  10. I'm writing this response on an HP DV9000 which has suffered the well known graphics chip issue and an equally well known (it seems) issue with the number lock button similar to the Caps Lock problem described by the OP. A couple of years ago at work we switched from Dell to HP as our hardware provider. The IT guys were less than impressed with the technical support they received from HP compared to Dell. I'm not sure what I'll buy next, but even prior to HP's announcement, I'd already decided it wasn't going to be one of their products. Andy
  11. Hoping to be there after lunch. Andy
  12. Most police forces have Facebook and Twitter accounts and some have been using them to keep the public advised of what is, and in many cases what isn't happening. If you're a Twitter user and you want to keep up to date with what's happening near you, it's worth following your local force on Twitter. Just a few of the forces mentioned in this thread: Leicestershire: @leicspolice West Midlands: @WMPolice Nottinghamshire: @nottspolice Met Police: @metpoliceuk Merseyside: @MerseyPolice and a shout for my local force Bedfordshire: @bedspolice Andy
  13. Looks like the "Detachment Staff Elected Silver" ribbon in the attached chart of the Marine Corps League. http://www.mcldeptct.org/pages/mcl_uniform.html Andy
