Evening all. A long day but it will eventually be worth it. After many months of excessively long hours, I decided that something had to change. So,first thing this morning I resigned from my job and now I finish work at the end of the month. I was wondering whether to look for another job or go self employed but there is no rush to decide. However, a couple of phone calls today have made the decision for me and I've decided to go self employed. I already have a couple of jobs lined up for December but I'll be starting properly after the new year. I now predict that December will mainly be a modelling month. Night all

An enjoyable visit to Tolworth with the two Bob's. Unlike GDB I did part with some modelling tokens but the fund is still well in the black. A lot of thinking when I got home and a decision has been made which should mean that some modelling can take place again. Dom - I hope you recover quickly

Morning all. I think the quantity of food last night along with some long days finally caught up with me. I obviously dozed off in front of the laptop waking at 01:00 so took myself straight to bed. Hi Jeff This is the first chance I've had to look in for the last two months. Work and family issues have got in the way. I'm seriously impressed with the point rodding, ballasting and weathering. IT certainly looks better with a couple of trains running.

A frustrating day where nothing went right. Just what I needed for a Friday. Multiple cockwombles on the road for the journey home. The first was a van with a trailer overtaking me on the motorway in the outside lane and in excess of 80mph. The second was yet another van but towing a caravan in the outside lane. Number three was the idiot who decided to turn right across the front of me without being able to clear the carriageway. Brakes were heavily applied along with my hand on the horn. These are the individuals that stick in my mind but there were several drivers either with rear fog lights on or no lights at all. After this week, a day of doing nothing tomorrow and Tolworth on Sunday should recharge my batteries.

This mornings job actually went better than expected so I headed up to the office allowing me a far later start tomorrow although it might end up being a very late return home as well. An early escape from the office saw me managing to get home just after 18:00. My potential late finish didn't happen thanks to the vagaries of express courier services failing to deliver a part on time. A relaxing evening sorting out washing and ironing before an early start tomorrow. Depending on how tomorrows job goes I might be heading back up the M40 to overnight in the midlands to supervise one of the new engineers replacing the part that should have arrived today followed by some fault finding. It could be a late Friday for me again. At least there is Tolworth to look forward to on Sunday.

A bit of a frost to start the day but at least my van doesn't need defrosting because of where I parked. I'm hoping to get away early to get home at a decent time. We'll have to see what happens. A chilly and wet day which also didn't go to plan. Attending a call out I had to go out to the van for some extra tools in the rain. A complete cockwomble UPS driver sped past me through a puddle drenching me from head to foot. Fortunately for him he carried on at speed which meant that I couldn't get hold of him. He has been reported though which makes me feel a little better. I'm meant to have an easy day tomorrow before heading home early. This has been screwed up by one of our suppliers sending the wrong replacement item for me to fit on the way meaning that I can't leave the office until it arrives. Although I arrived at my digs at a decent time, an extended eyelid inspection followed by food have delayed me logging on.
