  1. How deep is the recess behind the slots?
  2. Blundell's stayed in black and on early crest until withdrawal. Though her original tender did receive a late crest and Lined Green in a mix up at works!!
  3. Looks fantastic. Only thing that's niggling me is the totem's on the tender - they look a bit on the small side.
  4. No retreat, no surrender.. this ones been a challenge for sure and it'll be spectacular when it's done no doubt
  5. Mine arrived this afternoon while I was busy doing some decorating - thought the dog was going to eat the delivery driver with all the noise he was making lol !! I was having mixed feelings about pre-ordering it all those months ago after reading some of the posts on here concerning the moulded on details and the questionable running qualities. Those feelings where soon allayed once I took it out of the box. The 2 BIL is an extremely well executed model in my eyes (bit too clean for me ), it was nice to take the it from the box and not have bits of detail missing or pinging off! It runs extremely well through all the speed range (on DC) and yes I put a coupling hook on it and it's currently hauling 7 Maunsells happily around the branch-line circuit of my layout.... Am I a happy bunny... YES!!!
  6. Really starting to look like a West Country now Peter.
  7. Doctor Franken-smirski has left the building... it won't be the same
  8. Lyme Regis is the 100th unique renaming/numbering of a Bulleid Light Pacific I've done, if I included all the repeats it's more like a 110 +
  9. As 2012 draws to a close and with a few hours to spare, Bulleid Light Pacific number 100 is finally finished. Due to appalling weather I haven't been able to photograph her under normal light yet, but here's a sneak peak at 34009 Lyme Regis... Happy New Year to all of you TBG
  10. Finally my 100th West Country/Battle of Britain arrives on the workbench A not quite finished 34021 Dartmoor (well the front half) sits next to donor for her yet unnamed and numbered sister loco - 34009 Lyme Regis! At this point in time I haven't started applying transfers or numbers as other loco's needed to be finished. Dartmoor was finished today and my first B1 61313 is now close to completion. Till next time TBG
  11. Hattons have posted some pics on their Facebook page of the Rotating Bunker version, looking very nice indeed. http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.499534710066966.110638.217917844895322&type=1
  12. I would go for the black first, then the green. It's what I always do when I'm doing the 5,250gl tenders for the Rebuilt's
  13. What on earth was it painted with? Masonry paint mixed with artex lol
  14. It's been a long time since I've written a blog entry, health issues amongst the reasons I haven't posted much - thankfully it looks like I'm on the mend. A lot of locos have passed across my workbench this year, for those keeping tally: 12 West Country's/Battle of Britain's; Here's the 12th (number 99) awaiting masking and it's visit to the paint-shop 34021 Dartmoor 5 Q1's 2 M7's 2 T9's 2 School's 2 Granges An A4 1 28xx (though this ones, not finished as it not on the production slate for some time) 1 N15 (That surprised me, I thought I'd done more of them than that) 1 Merchant Navy And finally a B1; This is one of 2 Bargain B1's I picked up from Rails, I had to swap smokebox doors to create the correct one - 61313: Since I took this picture, she gained numbers, crests and Shed code plate (41D), though she ended up on Southern Rails for a time (Tender and Engine are separate at the moment, hence it looks odd in the picture) There's a whole load more on the slate too: The 28xx I mention above 8 more WC/BoB's (Number 13 will be started in a week or so all being well, that will be number 100 for those keeping count) - 2 are return to works. 2 N15's (including a mismatch tender ) Another Q1, plus a N class, another B1, a 57xx and a Standard Arthur - haven't done one of them in a long time. There'll be more I know. That's all for now TBG
  15. I'm assuming the tender was painted first Simon. I'm wondering if the paint wasn't mixed thoroughly enough as I've had that happen myself with Brunswick Green from Railmatch.
  16. Fantastic work as always You are getting good at this cut and shut work Simon, have you considered a job as a Plastic Surgeon?
  17. Tender looks spot on By looking at pictures of the class in their 'Original' Airsmooth style, it's not a handrail as such, but a mounting strip to hold the side plates for the Devon Belle Express service and by the looks of it they were only fitted to those locos that ran the service. Which I believe Watersmeet did
  18. It sits quite low down on the flat part of the tender, but it's there. The records clearly state that it was fitted to Watersmeet. If you google her you will find a fair few pictures of her. This is what a late crest WC should look like (ok these are Battle of Britain's): 34065 Hurricane Safety valves have been moved rearward, speedo fitted, infill and slope around chimney and aws battery box fitted at front
  19. The tender will need the briquette feeder cover, sits in front and to the right of the water filler on the 4,500 gallon tender. Plus a few other details on the loco to be correct for Watersmeet on a Late Crest
  20. Looks fab, the only niggle is the shape of the lifting eyes as they should be semi-circular in shape
