  1. I ordered an LMS one as I already have two BR ones from the kits. I ordered principally because finally someone had gone and had a go at a special for the N gauge market. Hatton's used to be - for over 20 years - my go to place for British N from Australia but once they stopped selling Farish, I stopped buying. I don't go on the Hatton's page often as there is no reason to - other than the Garratt. So some information would be handy. My initial understanding was I could have had my kids give it to me last Christmas - looking like it may not be here by Christmas 2021.
  2. Happy to help, as little as it may be, in the Great Task Tim. Fingers crossed for a viewing in 2021! Cheers Kevin
  3. Hi Tim, I found this: but the resolution is poor - I presume the original is at the LT archive or museum? Not sure if a) I'm teaching you to suck eggs by finding it as it maybe in your collection already or even b) if it would help? Cheers Kevin PS - having had a better look around the LTM site, it would appear they do have some drawings which maybe useful, just not on the web. From Down Here I don't know how easy it would be to get see the relevant drawings and decide if they'd be useful.
  4. Only just OMWB as once I fit the DGs to it this evening it will be off the work bench, but I couldn't resist taking a picture of the completed LNWR D15 etch I received back when they were offered on the photo of the inspiration wagon for the finish after I did the 20 transfers last night. Transfers done by a mate in New South Wales who basically took the scan of the photo and then drew the lettering before printing on his ALPS printer. Not the best quality of photo I admit but trying to get the light balance right between the glossy page, the painted model and not having the shadow of the camera....
  5. Wet Saturday here sono outdoor jobs could be done. So I cracked on with these. The MkIV SDJR Body print and the MkII LNWR D21 nearing completion. I'll have to find the LNWR transfers that I have (although with the brakes I suspect LMS might be more accurate - shall have to check the pictures). The SD one will be in LMS livery for me.
  6. I'll have to dig mine out John. Probably in the same box I brought it home in!!
  7. I've had an interest in the LNWR and specifically St Alban's Abbey station for around 25 years now. One day I shall have developed the skills sufficiently to build a finescale model rather than a N gauge one but in the meantime, I have been building stock. As part of this, and as part of my 3D CAD journey I drew a few wagons having purchased the excellent Wagon Books from the LNWR Society. One of the wagons which Down Here (at least the SEQ part of Down Here) found necessary was the D21 cattle wagon. The original drawing work was done back in 2018, but one thing and another got in the road and it never made it to Shapeways for printing. Now that I've got my Anycubic Photon, I finished it off and, having had the most recent Shop 2 order arrive on Monday last, I built the LNWR 9' chassis which came within using the photos of one of the D21s in Volume 1. The result is as below. I was very please that it was very minimal work (mostly just a bit of tidying up from the supports) to get the body to fit the chassis. I've still got to add the bar across the "windows" - I did include it in the drawing, but surprise, surprise, it didn't print that well. 0.2mm over that distance was pushing it I think! Still, no harm done and easily replaced with what was the original idea - wire. Hopefully the weather clears enough for a bit of paint to be put on it prior to the ZAG meeting tomorrow evening. The stepping on the roof is a result of the angle of print - I'll rub it with some wet n dry before painting and between the first couple of coats which tends to solve the problem I've found. .
  8. All or nothing Jerry. Decaled too mind. Both sides. Cheers Kevin (who is keen to enter for the first time!)
  9. No, it's my own design for the loco body which I got printed via Shapeways (however I now have a resin printer so will print a second when I can source a chassis) to go on a Marklin 2-6-0 chassis minus the front truck. Carriages are also my own design to go on the Microtrains Nn3 boxcar chassis. There is some of the Peco bodies around Down Here - I find them too clunky in the casting department. Cheers Kevin
  10. Thanks Nick. We've a Shorty out here which David is using for a US loco - not sure how he calmed it down but it certainly doesn't run that fast. I'll get him to have a look at this thread and see if he can post some of his video to it. We'll be bringing most, if not all, our N6.5 stuff with us assuming we get over there next year. In the meantime, this is one of mine. The write up on how I did it is linked from the 2mm website. Cheers Kevin
  11. Any shots of the N6.5 stuff Nick? There's a DJLC entry being put together Down Here with dual gauge as well and I reckon David would be interested to compare notes. Cheers Kevin
  12. Not so much a question but an answer (possibly to an unasked question here, but it has been asked on the VAG so...). The ZAG (Zoom Area Group) meets via Zoom (obviously) on the Second and Fourth Saturdays of the Month at 0900hours GMT (to allow for everyone around the globe to workout what time it is locally - I know it isn't friendly for the North Americans but it is run from the East Coast of Australia and takes into consideration the Land of the Long White Cloud as well as the multiplicity of time zones Out Here). The link to join, should be you interested is: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/85830030701?pwd=WmdJbmRBdTh6cktnSU01cFMwaHo4QT09 Meeting ID: 858 3003 0701 Passcode: 048177 As this is set up as a regular meeting, the link doesn't change from meeting to meeting.
  13. It is but it isn't the only one. I slipped another one in regarding the fruit part of the deal. (And with that, we have almost a bunch.... they just write themselves some days!!)
  14. Members of the VAG may recall a discussion I started a few weeks back about what model the Australasian Supermeet should look at doing for this years get together (still planned to be happening in September - PM for up-to-date details) and one of the suggestions was the SDJR/MR 25' Milk and Fruit van as found on p105/6 of Tatlow's NPCS book. The attached is the test print - very pleased with the result. Just waiting for the wheels to churn on the chassis (although I completely understand the extenuating circumstances which will delay same). It is actually blue in the picture - not the correct shade as I don't have a handy tin but putting something on was better for seeing the details rather than the black resin off the printer. I've got to work a bit on the support and printer settings to remove the slight banana.
  15. For what it's worth - one of the buildings for my DJLC entry. It's a 3D printed carcass (on a cheap Aldi Australia Cocoon PLA Printer) with Plastruct brick sheet laminated over and trimmed. Roof is Ratio tiles. The rest is various bits of Evergreen styrene. Windows glass with vinyl stickers cut using a Silhouette Cameo cutter for the glazing bars. It's not bedded in, because to get it from Here to There (fingers crossed for June 2021) it has to pack down and so it sits on, not in. When it comes back, and stops travelling by plane, I'll sit it in. (And yes, one of the bits of glass cracked, and not in a prototypical way!) I had considered paper, but my eyes find paper too flat and need the relief to "believe". Cheers Kevin of Oz
  16. This looks very, very good Nick. I haven't started any of mine. I got 4 etches - 3 to hopefully produce working locos from and one for spares/learning (aka mistakes). Not sure when I shall summon the courage to begin having a go - a few too many wagons need finishing first before starting yet another project!
  17. Apparently they also get brewed in Queensland... But as for the "real stuff" - trucks and freight are allowed across the Murray owing to a little thing called Section 92 of the Constitution of the Commonwealth of Australia. It's just people - other than footballers and politicians - who aren't allowed out. Cheers Kevin of Oz
  18. Proof is in the eating as they say - following said ZAG meeting and having some time today... Needs gapping but a wagon runs fine through it. No chair plates nor anything fancy was used in the making of this B7 point - bullhead straight on the sleepers. Two posts in one day - I think I may need to go and have a bex... Cheers Kevin of Oz
  19. I thought I should de-lurk to post this: Needs a little bit of work still - couplings, glazing, some hand rails and a touch up of the paint on the ducket. Chassis by Jones out of Clifford, body by moi on my Anycubic Photon (as I didn't like the way the wood bodies I got turned out - I blame the builder!!). The drawing file has been altered for the revised duckets - should have same at the ZAG tomorrow. Cheers Kevin of Oz
  20. That photo Pete - it looks so good. I thought you'd found an atmospheric shot of the actual station - then I noticed the coupling on the CCT and realised just how good the model was. Thought I'd delurk to tell you.

    2mm Expo 2015

Next time then Chris - and we'll teach you some useful Australia phrases to take back!

    2mm Expo 2015

Making a rare public appearance to say "Why didn't Chris get in touch with the Brisbanites whilst out here???" Meanwhile, hopefully there will be an Expo on the 25th of June next year (as I will be making the 36 odd hour journey from Brisbane to the UK for that weekend). Glad you had fun. Kevin of Oz
  23. Hi Jim, Read it now! Inspiring stuff and fully agree with the pervious comments about the more photos. Magazine arrived in today's post so I've that to look forward to as well. I better get a move on with mine, since I've claimed it will be able to run locos at The Gathering! Weather looking good out here (at least south of Brisbane!) for the next month. Cheers
  24. Just catching up - seems an age ago that I was over doing the last Bangor Board with you but it wasn't! Fantastic progress. Hopefully I'll be able to garner a leave pass to come and see before Christmas. Cheers Kevin
