  1. Nope - you get someone else to solder droppers and pass them to you under the layout - hence the chair further up. Then you grope around for the soldering iron... nuff said there. Otherwise, its up and down, up and down, up and down. Core ab workout however so the plus is you get fit - and given the weather we have been having this week, sauna too! I did a day on the solder station on the up. Figured I was less likely to get something wrong up than down under it all.
  2. Saw this in the latest BRM - which I don't normally buy but did solely for this layout! I have a series of 2mm scale etches for the trams and coaches and long term plans on building a layout based on the W&U - not sure yet if 2mm FS (ideally) or N (which would at least get something done)! Top effort and glad to have found it here for the extra pictures.
  3. Nice etch for the siphon. Whose is it? Much better than the original.
  4. Any chance of making Prince available for general punters? My kids call my father Grandpuff (following the story in Duke the Lost Engine by Wilbert Awdry) and we were thinking it would be nice to have a model Grandpuff!
  5. Thought I had better drop in and have a read. For the legion following - the photos don't really convey the scale of this undertaking. I'm looking forward to "playing trains" on it in due course - but I suspect there are a few more trees to build for it before then!
  6. Hi Pete, Moved having followed this saga to emerge from the darkness and make an observation. All I know about Kyle is from the photos you find on Google, the link above and seeing the TV show with that Python bloke getting the name board. The bit which I remember most is the sea in the back ground. I notice in the photos the sea is just along the bottom but by the time you put it behind the station it seems to be lost. I think the consensus on option 1 is about right, but the lack of obvious sea water makes me feel something is missing. Mind you I am on the other side of the world and everything is upside down... Cheers Kevin
  7. I wouldn't even be able to start - although the absence of koalas suggests they are not gums from around here! When are the answers coming along? The van looks nice - I must finish mine off!
  8. Enough now - let the rest of us try to merely walk in your shadow rather than having to run to keep up!!! Stunning work.
  9. I understand the NPCS fetish - I seem to be developing one too! *thinks - must email that bloke with the GWR Siphons in the last Newsletter :-)
  10. Fear not - I am a card carrying member now but I took it *all* up, not just bits and pieces!!!
  11. Top work there Rich - now hurry up and make them available!!!
  12. Looks good. I have had an eye on the Matherson wagons as a quick way of getting a mineral train but the area of the country I am looking at modelling is more East Anglia and Herts than Wales!
  13. What colour do you paint NPCCS for the GER in 1921?

Good to see you have the 2FS mafia avatar Kevin...

  14. Pretty good. It is merely practice so you will have to get stuck in.
  15. In a way I am glad it was you - I was starting to wonder who would be third to rip up the track... Not me seems to be the answer (although some ballast has to go - hopefully without taking the track with it!) May the Force be with you as you venture into Episode IV B) (Episode III being The Revenge of the Clay )
  16. Interested in this as some tramway bits I have been looking at are submerged by dirt and what not. Seems on first glance a Phanton Menace - if you clone your approach...
  17. I'll send one down to my parents - you can pick it up from there when you are in Brisvegas in April.
  18. You can include 73052 but that will require a renumber - perhaps 73158 is a good start? Only two to change...
  19. But isn't that what Gunners are for rather than Sargents???
  20. PT???? Since when? I thought if you blokes couldn't take your guns (and therefore the truck to tow them) you weren't going - and as such all you had to do was get onto said truck.
  21. Mum says never underestimate WO's... but thinks your quick thinking reply is a good one. She also innocently asks what colour is the carpet and figures if you don't know, you can tell me tomorrow.
  22. writing History Exams takes you away from ballasting... Not sure which is the more tedious job however.

  23. He is practicing so he can "tag" his MI VGR stuff...
  24. He might live only 10 mins away, and undoubtly you will have a couple, but that doesn't mean this one will be finished first now does it??
  25. Did Stur get flooded and the Army has been called in to help? Been happening a lot after all...
