  1. All variants of the J15 showing on the trade website as due into country early December (2014)
  2. To get a representative rake, you would have to commission 1,000 Composite coaches, and then 3,000 (or even 4,000) 2nd class coaches. Whether you do it as individual coaches or a boxed set, it would be an incredible commitment and risk for anyone to undertake.
  3. The problem with commissioning a 'OO' scale version of the Hornby coaches in ScotRail colours is the sheer volume that the run would consist of. Hornby require a run of 1,000 examples, which might even be more than the number of 47/7s and DBSOs produced by Bachmann. The 'N' gauge run of these coaches was a run of 200, via Dapol
  4. Ladies and Gentlemen, At last, we have some positive news about the release dates of the P2. But before you all go off in ecstatic celebration, be aware they are not about to flood on to the market. The latest Hornby trade news shows that R3171, the Railroad version, should have an initial batch arriving with Hornby in the week commencing August 25th. A further batch of R3171 will then arrive later this year - no time frame is specified for this later batch. Over the next couple of weeks, at least, Hornby deliveries are severely restricted due to re-locating of the warehouse facilities, so it may well be mid-September before the models start dribbling into retailers, and even then numbers received will not be their full allocation. So the wait is nearly over, but further patience is still required before all three versions are fully available.
  5. To keep up to date with every last model and likely release date, be it Hornby or any other manufacturer, would take up most of the staff time of most model shops... we would not have time to sell anything. If any customer asks, we will do our best to help. So, **** P2 Hornby TRADE WEBSITE UPDATE ****** All versions now showing due into Hornby week commencing 22nd September 2014
  6. The expected release dates have just been changed on the trade website: R3171 (Railroad) due into Hornby week commencing 5th September R3207 (main range) due into Hornby week commencing 12th September R3246TTS due into Hornby around 16th September. This goes very much against what 'Bulleidboy100' has just quoted from the Hornby website. So why can't we have a single set of information, rather than the hype they will be here imminently. I have already had one irate customer in demanding to know why it is not here in July, when Hornby had assured him that it would be so, just a few weeks ago. Traders also now face the spectre of people seeing the reviews, website videos etc. and deciding they will have one, when just about every shop will have all their allocation spoken for with pre-orders. Traders have been unable to order further stocks from Hornby for months. For those of us behind the counter, this promises to be the most frustrating model yet!
  7. In about 10 days, I hope to visit the Dawlish sea wall for the first time. Can someone please tell me what sections are open and closed between Teignmouth and Dawlish Warren. Thank you.
  8. The Hornby trade website shows R3171 as due week 8th July (!), but recent trade news information does not have the P2 appearing just yet. So I have to assume that this date is a typing error, and possibly the Hattons date of 8th August is the correct one. R3207 is shown as arriving at Margate week commencing 2nd September R3246TTS is showing as week commencing 16th September. So for the above pair, the delivery dates have slipped in recent weeks.
  9. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/28075946 Someone is happy at having seen something a little bit special. Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll !
  10. The Hornby trade website still shows the following expected dates into 'Margate': R3171 (Railroad version) week commencing 4th August R3207 (Main range version) week commencing 25th August R3246TTS (Sound version) week commencing 1st September These dates have not changed recently, so I would hope that this might be sign that these dates can be relied upon. Indeed. knowing that product takes a few weeks to reach the UK from China, production should be well in hand.
  11. Like the idea of that lifting bridge. Plenty of scope for interest of a non-railway variety.
  12. We will be in the Dawlish area in late July, and it is my hope that I will able to walk alongside the railway between Teignmouth and Dawlish Warren. I am aware that there are some places where the path is routed away from the side of the railway. Is it likely that all the trackside paths will have re-opened by that time?
  13. I was on Victoria Viaduct this morning and had a closer look at these buildings. 'Brass0Four's comment about how dirty buildings used to be needs updating, as these are still showing incredibly filthy stone work, as shown is Daves' (Waverley West) pictures.
  14. Living just over a mile from the 12 inches to the foot version of Carlisle station, I am astonished at just how accurate the buildings on Victoria Viaduct are. The names on the shops have changed, but essentially these buildings remain unchanged to this day and can easily be seen from the north end of the station platforms. Next time you are there, glance up at these buildings, and then take in just how superb these models are. Chapeau to your sir for your awe-inspiring work.
  15. Al, We have found one other coach with a half painted glazing rim, and it is a production fault. You can return it to us, and we shall replace it with a correct version. There has been the occasional fault with the coaches, but no more than might be expected with a production run of any model. Unfortunately, you are the 2nd person to have had 2 problems, but I can 'assure' you that just about everybody else seems to have received a perfect set.
  16. The following is a direct copy of the what I originally submitted to Dapol as the specification for the Blue/Grey Set. The set is to consist of 1 x 1st Class coach and 3 x 2nd Class coaches. Coach interiors to be the relevant 1st or 2nd Class configurations, as previously modelled by Dapol Coaches are to wear the standard BR Blue/grey livery, as previously modelled by Dapol. The 1st Class coach wears a yellow line above window level to signify the 1st Class seating. The carriage numbers to be used are: 1st Class: SC11008 2nd Class: SC12007 2nd Class SC12015 2nd Class SC12025 I would assume the set will have been produced to these specifications.
  17. You would be correct. I had assumed that production had simply been cancelled, as no mention was ever made of these following our cancellation, and I never saw any livery samples.. However, I got a phone call from Dapol last week just to make sure that I no longer wanted them, and if that was the case, they would put them on general release. Considering we dropped these due to low numbers of pre-orders, coupled with the then proposed release of individual blue/grey loco hauled Mark 3s, admittedly with an 'M' prefix., I cannot see them flying off the shelves.
  18. Easiest way to order is to phone us with your address and payment details during shop hours, Tuesday to Saturday 10a.m. to 5p.m. Phone number is 01228 514689 Similarly, if you have a pre-order that has yet to be paid, then please phone us with your details. There are still plenty of sets left. Back to frantically packing parcels.... and erasing the Royal Mail pension scheme deficit, single-handed. Mike
  19. Box and coach for 2P-005-021 are currently sat on the counter, and it is numbered E42127 (and not E41127) , but it is definitely liveried as a 1st Class coach.
  20. Still plenty left. We are back in the shop on Tuesday. Phone number is 01228 514689, after 10a.m. please. Or online, go to http://www.candmmodels.co.uk/ScotRailMark3s.html and click on the link towards the bottom of this page. (I believe our online shop host has some maintenance in progress, so the link may not work immediately)
  21. The ScotRail coach sets and the additional seat inserts are now with us, so despatching should start this coming week. Please note, that we are not the size of other shops, so it will take time to get all the orders in the post. The number of advance orders has been very encouraging. My thanks go to those at Dapol for delivering this project on time. When we first opened discussions with Dave Jones in early February 2013, the target date was February 2014. Special thanks go to Dave Jones for driving this project up to a point where the livery samples were produced whilst he was still at Dapol, and further credit to him for assistance given after he left the company, at a time when he could have washed his hands of any involvement. Dave, it has been a pleasure working with you on this project. So to whet your appetite, some photos of the finished coaches.
  22. Almost there. The ScotRail coaches are in the country, so I am hoping that I might be able to start despatching them some time next week.
