  1. My childhood and teenage years were spent around The Winchester Cycle & Motor Company in Jewry Street, Winchester. A large single story building divided down the middle. On one side there were the bicycles and motorcycles where Mum and Dad bought me a Hercules bike while I was at school and later I purchased a Raleigh Runabout moped. The other half was the model and hobby side with Airfix, Triang, Kitmaster etc. Much of my early wage packets were spent in there or in the shop at Northam near the station and on my way home from Southampton Technical College. Then I moved to Bristol and took a flat opposite Nobby's Hobbies on the Gloucester Road, sheer temptation a few footsteps away. Dave
  2. It might not be a good business model but it's the way we work, as do a lot of other retailers. If we order 50 of an item we take orders up to 35-40 depending on the likely popularity of that item which gives us some leeway should a very popular item be allocated. Back to the topic as far as I can see the first one (R3207 - detailed model) is not due into Margate until early July and as Hornby won't be allocating anything until they arrive I don't see how Hattons can claim to have been cut back on their order at this early stage. Dave
  3. To offer a glimmer of hope, Hornby have announced R4534A will be available in November. This was apparently in the plans for 2013. Dave
  4. To either clarify or add to the confusion our rep has told us that R3087 (Train Pack) is still in stock at Margate and available to order but R4534 is no out of stock and no further stock will be able to be ordered. What appears to be coming in July is the balance of our original orders as the original delivery from China was short and most dealers (ourselves included) were allocated a percentage of our order. Our rep is adamant that there will be no further production of R4534 but as he is coming to see us next Wednesday (27th June) maybe I can get some further information then. If I hear anything different I will udate. Dave
  5. What's got four legs and more money than Glasgow Rangers FC? Harry Rednapp's dog. TAXI!!!
  6. Just started wiring up some point motors only to find I have enough switches but very little wire. As we sell wire there is no excuse but work has had to grind to a halt until I can get to the shop and buy some more.

  7. Happy New Year to everyone on RMweb. Up nice and early to go to Winchester for the King Alfred Buses Running Day. Cameras and film packed just tea to finish and we're away.

  8. If you mean the R6508 BR 20 Ton Brake Van then this should be available from late August according to the latest information from Hornby. Dave
  9. I'm now drinking a cup of tea to restore my sanity after painting and weathering track. It's worth it when it's finished though.

  10. I can confirm the presence of an 8 pin DCC Socket, or at least that is what it says on the end of the box. Dave
  11. According to the e-mail from our rep it is due for release week commencing 14th December 2009. Dave
  12. I've got a point motor to fit and a couple of yards of track to lay but Sunday morning coffee is stopping me!
