  1. Magic, thanks for the help everyone, much food for thought. cheers Graham
  2. Has anybody got knowledge of these ballast hoppers in terms of geographical spread. I am thinking Scotland (Perth or Abredeen) in 1960s and what livery would be applicable? thanks Graham
  3. "Diesel Days Scotland" by Brian J. Dickson has a photo of D5713 working a Glasgow bound passenger train south through Stirling in Aug 1959. D5713 is plain green and sadly has wrapwaround windows but modellers license will see the Hattons variant appearing on Eskmuir from time to time on the Perth / west coast parcels.
  4. Hornby Mag also has a review. Model looks very good to me, always been fascinated by these lumps so will probably have to take the plunge.
  5. OTAs in stock at Arcadia Models, Shaw today. Look very tasty so waiting for older version with relish
  6. DIESEL: as a chiild \ teenager: KYLE OF TONGUE WHEATSONE BRIDGE (MMRS) RUNSWICK LEAMSIDE & BOLDON JUNC As an Adult TETLEYS MILLS & WIBDENSHAW & CANADA ROAD & FARKHAM & BLACKMILLS Steam: Colquarn engine shed (can't remember spelling) Gauxholme Viaduct (I cut my teeth on this and what a baptism of fire it was when my Lima 37 took the paint off all the finescale chairs!) Halifax Kings Cross Paignton (not sure its exact name but a marvelous vista) Chee Tor (train in landscape)
  7. I fall into both camps with this subject. I am born & bred on the Pennines so know how much benefit the midlands & north will get from this link, however, I live in the Chilterns so know how much ill feeling there is to the line. As a Civil Engineer, I know we have the capability to make the lines passage through the Chilterns & Warwickshire unobtrusive (this just needs to be pushed through the consultation) and also that some of the objections being posted are totally ficticious. An example is a claim in our village mag that the construction works need a 5 mile wide corridor. This is total nonsense. At most, we (as Civil Engineers) would get 50m either side, more likley 10m or even 5m width either side of the rail footprint. On balance, I vote yes with caveats.
  8. 2 and 3 car in Red & Silver please so I can commemorate the Man Vic to Huddersfield via Brighouse bone shaker. Ditto in original WYPTE red
  9. Well happy and annoyed all at the same time. Paid a small premium at Halifax for a second hand Hornby 29 to detail up and run on Eskmuir but delighted that I will be able to replace this with modern 29 and also with a plain green 21 as well B) Anyone for creating a sound chip of fitters throwing spanners and cursing so I can park one on the depot
  10. nice . Doubt it will happen but there is always hope....
