Anyone know if the Orient Express is still going to exotic places? (I mean overseas places - a bit further than, say, Carlisle). Has anyone been on it? Thinking of a treat for In Laws not involving flying.

Thanks for messages of support. I should have explained that we didn't 'live in each others pockets' - just got on well when we interacted. It was just receiving the news after sending an unsuitable e-mail in the circumstances. Still a shock though. I've seen Gordon elsewhere.

I made a booboo. I sent an e-mail to an American friend in the jocular (rude) way we communicate with each other. This morning (by post!!!!) I received the notice of his death and funeral arrangements from his widow. A bit of a shock - he was 43. They were coming to stay with us next year.

Tip of the day: (Stolen from another forum). Use umbrella spokes for guttering. Not tried it myself yet. Not with rain likely soon.
