    Something that is catching my eye is the free-standing gables.  They almost certainly would have a roof enclosing on them both because the window head otherwise looks as if it might be at the gutter line but really because they would be very slender otherwise and prone to collapse.

     

    I am a building surveyor and we had to do some emergency works to a building next to Harrods a while back where the roof was found not to be tied into a gable a bit like this.  It would have been exciting if we had not found it before it went!

    Yes lots of work to do on the roof, including tying those gables to the main roof.

  2. Like others I applaud his decision to make the diagnosis public, wish his majesty well with his treatment and a speedy recovery and wish the press would leave him and his family alone and stop the endless and fruitless speculation!

    * Had Hornby not snaffled these then the Hawksworths would have been a pretty good fit for Bachmann and complement their other efforts to cater for the last Big 4 designs (Thompson, Bullied and LMS Porthole designs)

     

     

     

    Upgrades of their Collett sunshine stock would fill a whole.

    I'm not expecting concertinas or dreadnoughts welcome as those would be, but as the Dapol toplights when we get them will be the steel plated type, they could still do the earlier panelled varieties

    According to Wikipedia and I am sure I've read it on a thread here, when the blue/grey livery was first introduced underframes were painted brown, later changed to black

  5. I had £3.50 taken from my account for an alleged Amazon prime account I don't have.

    Alerted the bank, they agreed it was fraud refunded me and cancelled my bank card.

    My partner has money taken from his account on the basis he'd paid for something on his phone. Bank useless and phone company useless. So we told his phone company to ban such purchases through our phones. Hasn't happened again

    The fact that production is now based in China and that unsold stock in a warehouse doesn't fit in with today's business models.  will mean that it may longer not be possible to always buy the new stock that might be required for whatever locomotive.

     

    As I recall there was the veteran four wheeler, and a brake and a composite for each of the big four. The GWR was based on Collett 57 footers with a dining car. The Southern was the GWR coaches painted green and a different roof. The LNER were some distorted gresley coach stock plus a sleeper. The lms were stanier 57 footers using the GWR underframe or vice versa.

    The BRITISH rail stock were a selection of Mk 1 and after 78 some mk 3.

    Any mk 2s came from airfix

    Lady Justice arrived today. She is 3D printed from Shapeways from a royalty free source found online. So I take no credit for the design.

    The cost was extortionate. A tenner for the print (not bad), thirty quid for the packing and postage! Don't tell the other half.

    The scales needed repair but given how delicate there are I'm not surprised.

  8. So little bit different, working on Mother Kibri kitbash. Almost at the stage where I have used all the kit parts I want to on this one.

    This was the original kit

    Haven't decided if this will be shops with a hotel above or offices.

    But definitely shops at ground floor. Will design something up and get it 3d printed for the shop fronts.

    A lot of attention needs to be given to the roof, so plenty of pyramids/pavilion rooves and chimneys to give that high Victorian look.

  9. Of course no court building would be complete without the royal coat of arms.

     

    This one is a former warrant officers cap badge I believe bought off a certain online auction site.

     

    It's perhaps a little on the large side buts fits nicely above the main door.

    My fine detail painting has never been brilliant, I tend to rely on a broad brush approach and a layer of dirt to cover up the worst of it.

    But from a distance and in the gloom under the pediment I think I get away with it.

    The model shop I go in most frequently, the very excellent Footplate in Kidderminster, has plenty of coaches in stock from Hornby so if not in the current catalogue coaches are still available!

    The Common User agreements around the start of WW1 amount to a permanent sharing arrangement.   For carriages I agree it would be less common (although as Bill has mentioned there were inter-company workings where each company supplied a set on alternate days) but there's no reason to suppose it wouldn't happen.

    Yes I'm aware of goods stock, but never heard of it in relation to passenger carrying stock
