  1. Erm, I might be being thick, but shouldn't that be keep the Council House on your left?
  2. Fantastic work on the charter rake and the layout as a whole. Have you used transfers for the red/white executive livery waist level stripes or are they painted?
  3. I very much enjoyed seeing the layout in the flesh today at East London Finescale at CEME, it really does capture the atmosphere of the area perfectly! - good to meet you too Mark.
  4. I don't know why I come on this forum, it makes me homesick and depressed when I am overcome with nostalgia... Lovely footage, and a fantastic thread, anyone have those time-machine blueprints I requested...???
  5. Some of mine are a damn tight fit, and they don't have the chassis expansion issues either. My body removal technique is as follows (don't laugh!): Locate lugs on inside of body and insert plasticard slivers to lift lugs clear of whatever it is that they sit in. Lie on sofa, hold loco above my chest by the body and gently with thumbs/nails prise body further away from the chassis while giving the loco a series of downwards 'shakes'. I find the chassis slowly and reluctantly comes away from the body and falls onto my chest! Good luck!
  6. I don't often indulge in hyperbole and exaggerated praise, but the photo of 27105 above is quite simply the most realistic shot of a model I have ever seen. To me, the model and the photographic conditions are as close to reproducing real life as is possible. Impressive!
  7. Larry, I don't mean to be a smarty-pants but the overview shot above can't possibly show 47464 if the photo dates from 1989; that particular loco was withdrawn in September 1986 following a collision at Elgin. :icon_redface: Sorry!
  8. Thanks to all for the contributions and the photos - they are fantastic!
  9. It's great to see this layout again Robert, I'd almost forgotten how good it is, and I look forward to seeing more of it as and when your time permits. I will be sorry to see the blue corporate image phased out though!
  10. Thank you! That's really useful information - sorry if I'm being slow Jamie but what does THR stand for? Adrian
  11. As the title suggests, I'm interested in information pertaining to the Royal Scotsman train dating from the 1980's. The Royal Scotsman website is excellent but gives only present day information. One day I'd like to recreate the train in model form behind a large logo Inverness Class 37, but I have no idea what coaches formed the train back then, or indeed if they are available as kits in 4mm scale. I wish I'd paid more attention when I was growing up in the Highlands during my teens! Any information gratefully received, photos would be especially appreciated.
  12. Just found this as I tend to avoid blogs - I'm doing the same thing. I started a couple of years ago and got to just about the same stage, then moved house and inertia took hold. I did manage to get some bogie side frames from DC kits and intend to graft them onto Bachmann 37 bogie frames. If you are interested I can send you some photos.
  13. Hi Dave, I was just admiring your recently uploaded photos and wondered if you had considered adding Salisbury Crags and a glimpse of Arthur's Seat to the backscene behind North Bridge? (A quick Google search shows what I mean, albeit from the wrong angle). Thanks for sharing your work with us, WW is a magnificent achievement.
  14. I've just been having a clearout/tidyup and came across a scrap of paper covered in my father's handwriting. Despite being a devout LNER fan, he seems to have taken an interest in the stock for this train and this list dates from Saturday 20th September 1986. 'Up' Clansman - 1100 Inverness - Euston 20/09/1986 BG SC84099 Mk1 Blue/Grey (extra coach, not usually part of train formation) - NB I don't know how he knew this, I'm merely transcribing the info! RB M1869 Mk1 Executive TSO M12144 Mk3a Executive TSO M12151 Mk3a Executive TSO M12137 Mk3a Executive TSO M12145 Mk3a Executive TSO M12091 Mk3a Executive FO M11048 Mk3a Executive BG M92034 Mk1 Executive Unfortunately he didn't note the number of the loco hauling the train - can anyone shed any light on this? Anyway, I hope this is of some use to somebody!
  15. Good to see this layout and the wonderful mix of 1980's stock on the new thread, excellent stuff! On a less happy note, Dave (Waverley West), no, it's not just you. I am finding much more time for modelling (perhaps I should see this as a positive) as I can't seem to get to grips with the new format.
  16. What's on your mind?
