  1. Have to make sure I get up for this show then :-)
  2. Hi Marc! Long time no talk, will explain when we next meet! Great to hear the show should be going ahead, keep us informed. Annual trip to Cardiff must happen at all costs! :-)
  3. Advance planning! Is there a L&B show in Cardiff planned this year chaps? Not seen any mention of it anywhere, so any information would be very welcome.
  4. Maybe, but I'm wondering now if I should do a quick buy-up of all the blue Cardiff City shirts in existence?
  5. Brian R In answer to your question re the Jack, has to be 'daft', ;-) Hope you get the soapbox fixed real soon now! And yes, if you are anywhere near Cardiff today, get down to Lord & Butler, it's well worth it. The layouts are all of a very high standard and the operators only too willing to natter and show you how things are done. I'm a bit wary of certain big charity organisations, but Macmillan are one of the good ones, and having seen the work they do, like supporting my neighbour when his wife was dying of cancer, I was more than happy to make a donation.
  6. Great to see the Cardiff boys and their superb layouts today at The Pumping Station. What a high quality selection of layouts! Had a cracking day out, and great to see Marc, Brian, Al and Paul, and I enjoyed the banter! Got to tell you boys that we saw another Jack wearing a Swansea shirt openly in the city centre later in the day! But seriously, thanks for the welcome, I'm still chuckling over some things that Brian said. Look forward to seeing all again soon. BTW, bought a couple of bargain BR (S) bits in Modelzone, so good day all round. Daughter enjoyed spending her money, although I seem to have bought her a 4mm hippy style VW at some point!
  7. Be good to see you again Brian. :-)
  8. Hi Graham Hopefully see you later in the year at Taunton then.
  9. Hi all Looking forward to L&B on Saturday, bought my rail and plus bus tickets today, so all set for the venture eastwards! Trade-off is that I have to take eldest daughter shopping in Cardiff centre after spending an hour or so at the exhibition! Who else will be around late morning/early afternoon then?
  10. Hi Two Tone Green Not really in the Haverfordwest Club on a regular basis nowadays due to other commitments, but three members and myself did get across to the Bristol show the other week. One thing I do miss about living in Sheffield was the abundance of exhibitions to go to most weekends. I use to set myself a maximum limit of four hours drive each way, but most shows were less than two hours drive. Got to see a lot of the Midlands and Northern England over the years!
  11. Hi gang Hope all are well, sorry I have been a bit quiet recently, close family bereavement, illness, etc etc. Anyway, hoping to be back on track from now on! Planning on getting to the Lord & Butler event on the Saturday, coming up by train from the far west! It would be nice to have an exhibition of some sorts in Pembrokeshire. Does anyone recollect there being one at some point? Nearest ones to me have been Aberaeron or Carmarthen, since I have lived here anyway. Offer still stands Marc of a cup of tea and butty if you are down this way! Hopefully see you soon.
  12. Looks damn cold there! (excellent btw!)

    Swans

Really really good Barry Ten! :-) Marc, I am still giggling here at your last sentence and looking forward to the return leg in three weeks, got my tickets ordered already! :-)
  14. Bore da/Good morning South West Wales is overcast, no rain overnight in this location between the sea and the mountains. Have finished decorating the railway room, just have to put curtains back up and then have a look at the space I have for a layout at long last! 10' x 7' with a well in the middle is the option so far, will have to be a tail chaser, and am opting for a urban South London SR in the early to mid 1960's location. Got so many large buildings and structures that would be out of place anywhere else other than a city or large town, so might as well finally find a home for them...
  15. Hello all I'm a footy fan, and have followed Arsenal since I was 9 (I was born in London), but I am a supporter of Swansea City since I first went to a game at the Vetch Field when I was 13 with my cousins and uncles, though ironically I spent the first five years of my life not that far away from Cardiff (!), that will make br2975 chuckle! I get up to see the Swans play a few times a year, and I also watch/support Haverfordwest County, my local team in the Welsh Premier League. Because I have lived and worked in quite a few places around the UK, I do watch out for the teams from those places, and consequently have a soft spot for teams like Doncaster and Exeter.
  16. Hi

    Hair today, bald tomorrow!

Looking forward, I think, to Saturday!

Sadly I won't be there, have not been at all well later and am back in the docs on Monday morning for more pokes and prods!

Driving just a short distance is a bit of an painful ordeal ATM, so Swansea is out of the question for now until I feel better.

But I shall be glued to...

  17. What's on your mind?
