  1. Any sound recommendations for the new Heljan Class 73? I have been looking at Legomanbiffo,, Marwick Soundscape (Wickness Models) & Howes Models. Cheers Tim
  2. Hi Nigel i have both, so I’ll have a look. Thanks for your suggestion. Cheers Tim
  3. I’ve had a couple of Jamie Goodman Loksound v5 decoders - a 45xx and an 8F - where the sounds switches off when the loco stops. The sound switches back on when the locos restart. This is not right! Anyone else had this problem and found a solution? Tim
  4. Panic over - now sorted. it turned out to be a corrupted .zpp file. Jeremy @ Digitrains created a new one which loaded successfully. This happens occasionally, apparently…. tin
  5. I’m having problems loading this .zpp file onto a Zimo MX644C decoder The MXULFA gets to 40% then goes no further. The decoder is on a Zimo test board. I tried a couple of resets (both CV8=8 & CV8 = 0) on the decoder – no change. I updated the MXULFA software to the latest version– no change. I updated the decoder firmware to the latest version - no change. If I connect the MXULFA to my PC & use ZSP, it appears to load, and the decoder controls the motor on the test board OK. However, when I press F1 to switch on the sound, all I get is loud white noise, like the safety valves on a steam loco. This cannot be switched off, except by removing power. None of the Function buttons work. To validate the decoder I tried several free .zpp files from the Zimo Sound Database The files loaded onto the decoder fully & all the Function buttons worked OK. I'm tearing my hair out - I've never had a problem before (that wasn't of my own making....) Can anyone you suggest anything else to try? Cheers Tim
  6. I disagree, having just installed 12 SS point motors on both O Gauge Streamline & Setrack Unifrog turnouts. (I have not installed on hand-built track, but I imagine that they would be OK) Admittedly they need careful installation & setting-up. For instance, they are very susceptible to being screwed down too tightly, and they seem to work better if the motor is on the same level as the track base. Adjusting the throw on the control box also needs to be done with care. Because of this sensitivity, I can imagine that they would not be a good idea for a portable or exhibition layout. However, they work well on my loft layout, which cannot have any under-board wires etc, because of storage requirements. Due to lack of info regarding SS Point Motors and O Gauge, I may put together a short article on my findings for the DCC Concepts "Focus Forum" - https://www.dccconceptsforum.com Tim
  7. Thanks for your reply Nigel. I ended up buying a couple of their own Smart Power Packs to try. At €20 each, about half the price of the ESU variety. Cheers Tim
  8. I have recently "acquired" a couple of Lenz Stay Alive modules from redundant Gold decoders. Looking on t'Internet, one appears to be a "Power 1" and the other a "Power 3". My question is - can they be used successfully on ESU V4 &r V5 Loksound decoders? If so, how do the Brown, Pink & Blue flying leads correlate to the Black White & Red on the ESU decoder? Thanks Tim
  9. Thanks Paul - sounds just the job - I'll contact Jeremy. Tim
  10. Thanks for replies. Meatloaf - Any comments on Olivia' s sound? csvt2004 - I tried exactly this some time ago. OK just pottering around but pulling a 20 wagon goods train on a large roundy-roundy, and it just ground to halt. Overheated maybe? Tim
  11. I have 2 Heljan O Gauge Class 20's I am going to remove one motor from each loco to enable me to use 00/H0 Sound decoders. I intend to run them as a pair using DCC Advanced Consisting, so ideally need to fit identical decoders in each. Is there a sound project available containing 2 switchable versions of Class 20 sound so that each loco sounds can be subtly different. Or any other suggestions? Cheers Tim
  12. Hi Below is the table of Decoder Details output from a Lokprogrammer. Can anyone explain/interpret what each line means (some are obvious, of course) Especially what is PDate & Bdate & Adate? LokSound V4.0 ManId: 00000097 ProId: 0200006A SerNo: FA00F88A PDate: 30/10/2018 PInfo: FFFFFFFF BCode: 0.2.1 BDate: 22/02/2010 ACode: 4.17.9249 ADate: 04/07/2018 AType: MultiDcc CV7 : 255 CV8 : 151 Cheers Tim
  13. Thanks so much Paul! All the best Tim
